Man, hard not to vote for Sacar. Without that effort, we lose pretty easily.

How would we have done without Markus' effort?

I want to be clear here, everyone that said Sacar is 100% correct that he was the stud of the Villanova game...

...if you completely ignore that Markus Howard also played in the game.

Either we rename it SOTGNNM or we need to try to stop finding reasons to choose players not named Markus.

I was at the game, so I watch the telecast this am. I think that was by design to not give a wide open 3 to Gillespie. I couldn't believe that Markus did that when I saw it. But, I really think that it was just a hedge to give Sacar time to get back into position......but Markus left too early and Sacar had not yet recovered, allowing Booth to get to the left block with ease.

The design of the play was to attack Markus. They intentionally screened with Gillespie so that a switch would occur getting Booth on Howard.  I believe there was a lack of communication as to what the defenders should do next. Gillespie's screen wasn't strong enough to necessitate a switch.  Had Markus actually hedged and forced Booth outward, Sacar would have been able to fully recover. Instead Markus played it like a switch and moved with Booth away from Gillespie while Sacar got pulled into no man's land having moved to get back to his man and too far from Howard's. Booth could have easily kicked it back to Gillespie for three but Gillespie was too far off the line. Markus realized his man was open but forgot that he was the guy preventing the fastest path to basket and left.

This play told me two things:
1. Nova thought their best mismatch was Booth against Howard
2. Once that fell apart Nova didn't have a backup plan as to what to do.

Should have been a switch.  Marcus fd it all up by initially staying n then bailing putting Sacar behind Booth.  Kinda ugly but we were fortunate.
