So, is this the guy from "Coming to America"?

Were hoping to land this talented young man and you contribute that...

I apologize. A very weak attempt at humor.

I think MU would be very very fortunate to attract this young man.

It won't happen again.

I am sure this kid has heard that line many times. It was a very funny movie.

OJELEYE BREAKS DOWN TRANSFER PROCESS
Benjamin Worgull 12/15/14
This story was originally published on BadgerNation.com.

In a Scout.com exclusive, former five-star forward and Duke redshirt freshman Semi Ojeleye explains his decision to transfer, his timeline and what he's looking for at his next college.

Semi Ojeleye didn't want to leave Duke.
The former 2012-13 Parade Magazine National Player of the Year, Ojeleye loved his teammates, head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the chance to play at school nuts about basketball.
But with Amile Jefferson and Justise Winslow emerging at Ojeleye's position, the 6-8, 230-pound redshirt freshman wasn't getting many minutes and could see the writing on the wall.
"It was a tough decision because you get used to a lot of guys, build a lot of relationships with people and then decide you have to move on," Ojeleye told Scout.com. "That was difficult but I just felt at this point I needed to go somewhere where I'd have a better opportunity to play and have a better career overall."
Early indications are Ojeleye will have plenty of places of pick from. Less than 24 hours after announcing his decision, Ojeleye – a former five-star recruit by Scout.com – said he's had a lot of schools contact his family, high school coach or AAU coach to gauge his interest.
Having finished his semester at Duke Saturday, Ojeleye is back in his hometown of Ottawa, Kansas. He said he plans to take a couple days to decompress before evaluating his list of offers and set up official and in-home visits.
"The list is decently long," said Ojeleye. "I'll probably take three or four visits and schools can come in home, too. That will save me some time and some traveling."
Coming out of Ottawa Senior high school, Ojeleye picked the Blue Devils out of a final list that included Indiana, Oregon and Stanford. He also considered Arizona, Illinois, UCLA and Wisconsin, among others. Kansas didn't offer a scholarship out of high school, but Ojeleye said the Jayhawks have been in contact.
Having no transfer restrictions, Ojeleye hopes to make his decision by the start of next semester.
"Obviously I want to play, but I want to go where I have a chance to learn and a chance to go to the NCAA tournament," said Ojeleye. "If they have a good coaching staff, a good locker room and my family is all on the same page, that school has a good chance with me going there."
Another school Ojeleye said reached out was Wisconsin, who gave him his first power-five scholarship offer in June 2011. Having visited the campus during the recruiting process, Ojeleye got another look at Wisconsin when the Blue Devils played in Madison Dec.3. Ojeleye did not play in the 80-70 Duke victory, but found himself impressed by the raucous environment between two top-four teams.
"It was another example of what you work hard for and what you want to be a part of," said Ojeleye. "Being able to see what Wisconsin is about, see what kind of support they have and what kind of atmosphere they create gives them a good chance. I think schools like that would be a joy to play for. They are definitely an interest to me after seeing that kind of crowd and atmosphere when we were there."
Having won Duke's offseason strength testing completion each of the last two seasons, Ojeleye appeared in six of the Blue Devils' eight games this season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game. He has 2.5 years of eligibility remaining.
"I am going to try to take some time, clear my head and make the best decision here in the next couple of weeks," said Ojeleye. "I've gone through the recruiting process and know the questions coaches ask. I've been in college. It's not so much where I'll be staying. It's all about the basketball. I don't know have stress not knowing what I'll be getting into. It's all about finding what's best."

Is it telling that neither Marquette nor Wojo were mentioned in this article? Either Wojo is "Mr. Stealth," or Semi plans to truck his talents elsewhere.

Who is mentioned other than Kansas and a bunch of schools who were in on him two years ago? Not much insight in the article, just a lot of speculation

This article was a nice journalistic scoop by the writer. My instinct is Semi will have a very well defined opinion on Wojo based on his experience. This history will determine if we are in the finals or eliminated right away.

If we are in the finals I think we will be able to meet his criteria as well as any school and probably offer him the most upside.

This is a BadgerNation.com story originally....so am I surprised that Marquette was not given a mention and instead they spent the latter half of this story talking about Wisconsin and his recent trip there? No.

good eye for detail.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Somebody will have to replace Oubre at KU.  KU currently doesn't have any commits. Seems like an attractive place to go, if he was looking for PT.

The writer should have probably spent a little more time figuring out what year in school he is.  He played 17 games last year so pretty sure he's not a redshirt freshman.

That was the plan before the season. Oubre been MIA this year (10 min per game)

Kansas not recruiting Semi in high school might bite them.

Sure, until Bill Self reels in Cheick Diallo, Stephen Zimmerman, Carlton Bragg, and Tyler Dorsey and he is sitting behind 5 star freshmen again

+1. Transferring from one blue blood to another seems unlikely for that exact reason. Kid wants to play

It does seem that kids transfer to get PT or if there's some fundamental disagreement with how they are being used by the current coach.

It's a story from a Badger site, they figure everyone redshirts, it's what St Bo would do.

Our previous regime recruited Semi

If Wojo is pursuing Semi, it should be interesting whether Wojo's past relationship with him is a positive or negative.  If Semi feels like there was some false advertising regarding his role at Duke, Wojo's role in the process would likely take MU out of the running.  If Semi just believes that he lost a fair competition against the Duke players getting more minutes, the past relationship and the opportunity to start at MU could put us in a great position.  Not many kids take the latter view, but it would say a lot about Semi if he actually did.

MuMark

The Indiana Rivals.com site, Peegs.com, was able to compile a list of schools that look to be the most involved with the former four-star prospect and 2012-13 Parade Magazine National Player of the Year. Along with Nebraska, that list includes Wisconsin, Kansas, Georgetown, Maryland, SMU, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Butler, Wichita State, Creighton, Tennessee, Washington, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Northern Iowa, Tulsa, LaSalle, Rice and Drake.

Another factor is how close was he & Tyler Thornton his teammate last year who is now on MU coaching Stall

Coming out of high school, Ojeleye was the 26th overall recruit in 247Sports.com's composite rankings, and it stands to reason he'll be pursued heavily. His offer list was a who's who of top programs, including Indiana, Arizona, Wisconsin, UCLA, Stanford, Illinois and Oregon. Given that he should be eligible following fall semester next season, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him transfer to another major program.
