I understand what you are saying about competing in the conference and making the NCAAT.  But what good does it do to be the best in our conference, if we are the second best in the state?  I realize this is all hypothetical.  We could get a great coach, that keeps the program together as far as returning players and incoming recruits, and not have to re-build.  I'm just saying if UW keeps improving the quality of their roster and we continue to be an unorganized, leaderless disaster, they could dominate the recruiting in this state for several years.  I think we have to agree to disagree on the quality of their team this year and next.

Look, Wisconsin is a great program with what Ryan has created there, but Marquette has had better success 3 out of the last 4 seasons.  Were they fretting Marquette's success in the NCAAT and afraid of the ramifications or did Bo Ryan keep building and recruiting for his program?

Do the schools in New York, Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, California, Indiana, Kansas, Texas and any other state where multiple schools have successful programs have trouble recruiting the kids they want and competing at the highest level?  Has Michigan State's dominance prevented Michigan from rebuilding their program to elite status?  Do Ohio St, Xavier, Cincinnati and a couple of other successful mid majors from Ohio have trouble being successful?  Kentucky and Louisville have no problem competing at the elite level.  Neither have Duke and UNC.

This year was a MAJOR underachievement for MU, but to suggest that it fundamentally alters the dynamics of Wisconsin college basketball is coming just short of fear mongering in my opinion.

While I think this coaching hire thus far has been handled poorly and I don't think the job is as attractive as many on this forum, I think it's a tad premature to jump to the conclusions that you are at this time.

F**k, as a die hard Cubs fan (my true sports love) I'm conditioned to overreact in a negative way regarding the teams I root for.  You're causing me to act out of character with a more pragmatic view of the events transpiring.  I'm not sure I like being in this position.

TAMU, can I get a little help here?  ;)

That was his freshmen year genius, look it up.  He is expanding his game, he wants to be a Kevin Love type player (perhaps the Howland hiring would be good in that sense).  He also spends an awful lot of time visiting Wisconsin and tweeting things, for someone who isn't interested in Wisconsin and Bo is clearly interested in him.  Is Bo going to change his style to fit Diamond, I think not.  If Diamond goes to UW, they will work on his perimeter shot and he will shoot 3's just like every other big man they've had under Bo, not named Stiemsma.  Ellerson and Fischer have nothing to do with this discussion.

Just stop with the making stuff up.  Last summer when Stone played for USA basketball, when he played with equal talent to his ability, he started 5 games and had 50 field goal attempts.  ZERO 3 point attempts

http://www.usab.com/bios/stone_diamond.html

He also said this about himself: Would compare his game to: DeMarcus Cousins.

This would be the same DeMarcus Cousins that has played in 283 NBA games and made NINE 3 Pointers in all these games (no doubt all when the shot clock was at 1 and he had no choice).

Same DeMarcus Cousins that played 38 games at Kentucky (1 and done) and was 1 for 6 in threes

Izzo said college basketball fans are idiots because they cannot remember what happened 3weeks ago, let alone three years ago.  Be more afraid if Kentucky wins today and Stone wants to go play DeMarcus Cousins College coach.  This notion that Stone wants to stand behind the arch and catch and shoot threes just makes you look bad.

Frank Kaminsky had a grand total of 133 points last year. He has 74 points in this NCAA Tournament after four games!
Sorry, I could not resist. Derrick Wilson had 161 points this year.

Stone is a back to the basket 5.  How does that style fit with Bucky's style.

You've clearly never seen him play.  The kid can drain it from three and loves to get out on the perimeter and take the shot.  Honestly, I think he might fit in Bo's system better, but of course we don't yet know what our system will be.
