Was cleaning out the DVR last night and found this game from the tourney, so of course I had to re-watch it.
A few things stand out from that game, six months later:

1. If Jamil picks up where he left off at the end of last year, our front line will give a LOT of teams problems. Chris was developing some nice touch around the basket.

2. Last year, I thought Junior was underappreciated. Now, I think so even more. The mistakes he made in that game were at least mistakes of aggression. When Duane was in the game on offense, his man was just concerned about taking away the passing lanes, because he was no threat to drive or shoot. Hope that changes this year.

3. I'm glad Rotnei Clarke has graduated.

4. Did they change the Flagrant 1 rule over the offseason? If not, they need to do so immediately. Trent's little tap on a defender who pretty much stuck his chin where it shouldn't be was a huge momentum shift. I know they were trying to take away the subjectivity on flagrant foul calls, but isn't pretty much every foul call subjective anyways?

Hurry, 2013-14 season. Hurry.

Haha I know what you meant but let the confusion of two point guards named D. Wilson begin!

Whoops, my bad.
We'll have to find out who gets to keep their nickname of D-Wil.

Yes, they changed that. Here's a quick overview of rules changes for this year blatantly stolen from reddit

Source, See Pages 4-6

There were 28 total rule changes this year, but these are the highlights:

Establishing Legal Guarding Position - (Rule 4-17.4.d)
QuoteWhen the opponent with the ball is airborne, the guard shall have attained legal guarding position before the opponent begins his upward motion with his hand/arms to shoot or pass.
Possibly the biggest change to the college game fundamentals and brings it closer to the NBA's rule on block-charge plays. This means that defenders need to be stationary earlier than in the past, so the likelihood of obtaining proper defensive position is decreased. Expect confusion as everyone becomes familiar with this change and adjusts to seeing fewer charges called on players driving to the basket.

Personal foul- elbow. (Rule10-1.14.c)
QuoteIllegal contact caused by the swinging of the elbow(s) that occurs above or below the shoulders of an opponent is a common, flagrant 1 or flagrant 2 personal foul. Such contact no longer requires a minimum of a flagrant 1 personal foul when it occurs above the shoulders of an opponent.
Pretty self-explanatory, so unreasonable Flagrant 1 fouls aren't required for elbow contact above the shoulders.

Monitor Review- Fouls. (Rules 11-2.1.d.1 and .2)
QuoteWhen a foul has been called on the floor, a monitor review is permitted to determine if a flagrant 2 personal or flagrant 2 contact technical foul occurred. When it is determined that no such foul occurred but that a flagrant 1, common or contact dead ball technical did occur, that foul shall be penalized accordingly. When the review discloses, by indisputable evidence, that there was no foul committed, the foul call shall be reversed with no foul charged. In situations where officials fail to make a call on the floor, officials are permitted to review for a flagrant 2 personal or flagrant 2 contact technical foul, and when no such foul(s) occurred, a flagrant 1 personal may be charged or no foul charged, but common foul may not be charged.
This change gives officials a lot more flexibility when reviewing plays at the replay monitor, and allows for appropriate adjustments when the improper call is made on the court.

Monitor Review- Player to be charged with foul. (Rule 11-2.1.d.5)
QuoteAfter a foul has been called, officials may use the monitor to determine on whom a foul is to be charged when there is uncertainty.
In the past, fouls could only be reviewed to determine against whom the foul was committed.

Monitor Review- Shot clock violation. (Rule 11-2.1.e.1)
QuoteIn the last two minutes of the second period and overtime(s), officials may use the monitor to determine whether a shot clock violation occurred.
Monitor Review- Out of bounds violation. (Rule 11-2.1.e.2)
QuoteIn the last two minutes of the second period and overtime(s), officials may use the monitor to determine which team caused the ball to go out of bounds when there is a deflection involving two or more players.
Two more instances of basic replay use expansion.

Official's Duties- 10-second back court count. (Rule 2-7.9)
QuoteThere will be no visible count on a 10-second back court violation unless there is no shot clock available. Officials will use the shot clock to count for a 10-second back court violation, except when the shot clock has been turned off at the end of each period.
The refs will not longer visibly count to 10 as the play comes us the court, unless needed because of a tipped pass or if the shot clock is off.

Violations- Goaltending. (Rule 9-17.5)
QuoteWhen the ball contacts the backboard and any part of the ball is above the rim on a field goal attempt, it is considered to be on its downward flight. In such case, it is goaltending when the ball is touched by a player as long as it has a possibility of entering the basket.
This rule takes away the requirement that the whole ball be above the level of the rim for a touch to be considered goaltending, and makes the play easier to call.
