CBB, grew up in SB.  Bunch of d bags.  Ya, they got dough.  So does Donald trump.

Powerful people in powerful places, always a good thing to be a part of.  Letting them into the conference would be a big deal.  I'd rather be above the fray on this one...call it a Catholic Karma thing if you like.

What a pathetic troll ... This post is why I continue to think UW is an oversized community college.

Here's why I take Notre Dame...

1) Loyalty. I fully believe Notre Dame helped get Marquette and DePaul into the Big East in the first place. Repaying that is good karma. Leaving them out in the cold is similar to the idiots who think we should try to ditch DePaul, completely forgetting how powerhouse DePaul basically dragged a moribund Marquette into the Great Midwest some 20 years ago, and without DePaul doing that there is no way we are where we are today.

2) Saving costs. We won't get a great boost from adding Dayton or St. Louis a year earlier. Take a school that can handle their own buyout costs, will almost certainly earn a NCAA berth, and improve everyone's RPI. In addition, that allows us to add whichever other three schools we choose with an extra year taken off their buyout, smoothing their road into the Big East in 2014.

3) I hate Notre Dame. And I really, really LOVE hating Notre Dame. Just like I love hating Wisconsin. But it's hard to maintain a hate when you don't play a team. This would guarantee two more games with the Irish in a year where Marquette is projected to have their strongest team in over a decade. Let's beat them twice and send them to the ACC with a 3-game losing streak to Marquette.

4) We don't know exactly who we want for 10, 11, and 12. Taking Notre Dame allows us a little more time to hash out who will be the best fits between VCU, St. Louis, Dayton, Creighton, Richmond, and any other schools we might be considering.

5) I definitely want a long-term home-and-home with ND. Doing them a favor now will likely help improve the odds of that happening.

6) Maybe they'll come back. Let me say before anyone jumps on this I do not at all expect this to happen. But if the ACC takes a severe tumble and loses 5 programs, maybe the Irish will be in a position where their SOS with the 5 mandated ACC games isn't enough to get into the new football playoff. Maybe they will lose some of their bowl links, reducing Notre Dame's ability to get into top non-playoff bowls. If they did decide to go back to full football independence, they might need a conference for their basketball and non-revenue sports. I would love to keep that line of communication open.

Bottom line, adding Notre Dame is NOT the same as adding UConn or Cincy. We would know the terms and know they wouldn't be shaking up our league because of their football. It helps solidify a long-term relationship and keeps the door open for the future while also making it easier to iron out the last 3 teams in 2014.

Well said.  Agree 100%.

Yes it does ... We have a famous anonymous poster here and he has changed my mind.  I agree that UW is a top 20 university in the world.

I agree, although I think I can maintain my ND hate even if we don't play them.

Who cares what Jamil would do.

I do.

Especially if it centers around hitting three after three, breaking their zone, dunking on Cooley, winning Senior Day, and more importantly, extending the nation's second longest home court winning streak in D1.

PLAY LIKE A CHUMP TODAY, ND!
SS Marquette

The Process

FWIW, Dennis Krause (DennisKrause1 on Twitter) thinks that ND might be a good add to make it a "smoother transition" for the C7 and that we "need at least 8 in league."

Perhaps he needs to be... educated... about things?
Relax. Respect the Process.

Let em in but they get no dough. If they're so all-powerful, they don't need it. And they'd just be using BE2.0 for SOS purposes, so they don't deserve it. But let em in anyway, and we can use them for SOS and they can use us for SOS.

Don't despair, Another MU84, just tell us who in your family they've kidnapped, and we'll find 'em.  I promise.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
