I see you've walked back "surefire title contender" down to "E8/FF potential at some point in their careers".

That's hedging things just a bit. ;)

Perhaps you recognized that as good as our class is, its only ranked 13th on ESPN right now.  There will likely be 20 or teams--possibly more--with similar talent levels coupled with equal and/or better returning talent.

Not to mention the handful of teams  (UK, Florida, Duke, Memphis, UNC, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Arizona, and IU) which will probably have more/better talent.

If we want to get over the hump and be taken as a serious contender, it will take landing a player or two like Stone--which you seem to recognize now as well.

Not in the least.  I said the current 2013 class AS IS has E8/FF potential.  Add Embiid, the missing piece, and they're title contenders considering they'd be playing with a seasoned Anderson & Taylor for two years.  Not that hard to follow.  I hedged nothing.  Now they need to add a center like Stone or a stud JUCO to fill in that gap in the middle when Davante & Chris leave to contend for a title since we didn't land Embiid.

From Telep today:

Marquette likes those Chicago guys

It makes sense that Marquette recruits hard in Chicago. It's a geographical fit and an option for Windy City kids who want to get away, but not too far away. Dwyane Wade is the biggest Chicago success story for the Golden Eagles, and Marquette has Chicagoan Steve Taylor on the roster this season.

So it shocks no one to hear among insiders that the most ardent pursuer of ESPN 60 junior forward Paul White (Chicago/Whitney Young) is, you guessed it, Buzz Williams.

Would really like to see him kick off the 2014 class with a verbal soon.

Paul White may trick some of those around here thinking we finally inked a traditional.

BCHoopster

i saw him play on TV, tall, lanky and a lot of room for improvement, he needs to add 30 to 40 lbs., as skinny as Juan Anderson.

I had to google Paul White to get more info, and came up with this...

We could use his size.

Davante hopes we land this guy, that's for sure. Then DG will be known as "Mr. Slim."
