Marquette athletic director Larry Williams endorsed Butler as part of the new league the Golden Eagles are forming with six other members of the Big East.

Larry is concerned about the future of football because of head injuries.    Suddenly, I find myself liking the guy.    His answers please me.    Butler a good fit, not letting football dictate our destiny.....good stuff.

Im willing to bet a large sum that Larry W will move to a school with a high D1 football team. When that happens (which may be many years from now), we will say, "Larry was a great AD for us." Ultimately, I would think that any AD would want to be in charge of a football team (because that means all of the title 9 sports). And the more sports one can preside over, the more appealing the job should be. Just my opinion.

And what is up with LAX? We havent heard much about the developments of that sport. Where will they be practicing? He mentioned an indoor facility but didnt mention that it could be used for LAX. Not good, IMO. Is there something going on with the LAX program? Just doesnt seem like the athletic department is 100% behind it. In fact, it sounds like it will be behind soccer and maybe even volleyball. I have a hard time believing that as LAX can be a borderline profit-generating sport. Maybe losing ND and especially SU put a major dent in our plans?

Awesome. Thanks. There are only two home dates this year which isnt all that surprising. What is surprising is that Duke is coming to town which will give locals a good look at what high level LAX is all about. Seasons only cost $20 and that includes mens and womens (9 games (2 mens)).

I still think he comes off as a douche (e.g. I almost drove my car off the road because I hold academics above all else), but at least I know now that he gets the big picture issues that face MU and is proactively trying to solve them. That is all I can ask.

And if I were an AD football is the last thing I'd want to deal with.  I'm not saying that will hold true for LW, but I do thing MU is going to benefit from being in a bball only conference, where a lot of people who don't want to deal with the craziness of college football can get away from that giant.  If his goal is to make the most money, preside over the most sports, etc...he'll leave (an nobody will care), but I have to believe there are good AD's out there who don't want to be held hostage by football programs.  LW would have been run out of town over the summer if the same thing would have happened, but only in a football program.

At the NYC Circles event, he said the Fieldhouse would be for teh Lacrosse team also.

Sorry, you're right.  I was thinking of MacMurray College because that's where the football coach he fired at UTEP ended up and had some success. That was the only topic I ever discussed with him, so it stuck in my mind.

I am guessing he opted in to the class action lawsuit that is suing the NFL.  I hope he files a lawsuit against ND and the NCAA as well.
