Does that make the 2013 recruiting class the greatest (at least in terms of initial potential) in MU history?

- Burton (SF)
- Duane Wilson (PG)
- Dawson (PG)
- Embiid (C)
- J. Johnson (SG)
- McKay (PF)

My goodness, half the Big East would consider starting all 5 (with Dawson seeing some minutes) on Day #1.  And if you mention the '77 class that includes Bill Neary...

The Lens

I'll be happy if just Burton and Wilson sign.

It's a stacked class, but let's not count chicken hawks before they hatch.

It would certainly be the best class I can recall, and would almost certainly lock us into the top-5. No way we pass a Kentucky class that already has 3 top-5 prospects, and unlikely we finish ahead of a Florida class with 2 in the top-10, but I'd put that class up against anyone else.

If that comes to frution, it has to be the best on paper at least since Al, with super athletic Top 50 caliber players at positions 1-5 and a nice complementary 1/2 combo who could turn out to be a major sleeper.  Oh god, I've already convinced myself this is happening.  That never works out well.

Easily best since Al but I gave the Bill Neary example for a reason. (And I really liked Neary.  His job was to keep Toone on the bench next to Al so coach could yell at him.)

I'd be very hard pressed to find a better total class.  Individual player or two, sure.  Whitehead, Toone and Ulice starting in the '76 season, for example.  Perhaps that group that started in '73 that originally included Lucas, Tatum, Homan, Delsman, and, yes Bill Neary.

Al signed one star a year and surrounded them with transfers and lesser recruits. I would say Chones, McGuire and Fraser(sp) was his best freshmen class.

Ive heard from a very reliable source that Dawson would be a no doubter top 100 player if he lived in an area with a better aau circuit.  Thought to be on par with Duane Wilson.

So why must the source remain nameless?
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Sugar. Great Al story about him. He stormed into McGuire's office one day demanding more playing time - "Coach, how come I'm not starting? I'm just as good as Allie!" Al responds, "Sugar, you got a point. One problem - Allie's my son, so bein' as good as him just isn't quite enough."

Because nobody would recognize the name.

I vaguely recall that.  Be funny to know how many "Al stories' were actually true.  No disrespect to Allie, he was a very solid player.  Typical coach's kid.

That's 1.  Joel, we'd welcome you too.

The weather is supposed to be fairly nice in Milwaukee. Perhaps, with Jojo being from Cameroon, this will play in our favor.
