Since conference play has started, where has todd mayo's offense been? Can't recall when the last three fell for him. Is this a sign of better competition or just in a funk? Any thoughts?

RubyWiscy

Wow! Todd is a freshman who contributes. Give him a chance.

nycwarrior

He had a couple freshman moments on Wedensday but he also put the ball in the bucket pretty well. Hopefully that's him taking what the defense gives him.

Let's see how he does against the good-but-not-great teams we'll see over the next month.

Probably a mistake to respond to a first post of this quality, but.....

Todd's line vs. Georgetown
6-10 shooting, 3-4 three-pointers, 16 points

St John's
5-6 shooting, 12 points

Villanova
11 points on 2-6 shooting

Syracuse
4 points on 1-6 shooting.

In four games, Todd has had two highly efficient, very good scoring games, one average scoring game, and one bad game. Oh yeah, and he's a freshman. Can't believe this is a topic

Do you watch the games?

As mentioned, he hasn't been that bad...but defenses are also chasing him off the line and making him put the ball on the floor.

And against St. Johns...

5-6 from the field, 2-2 from the line, for 12 points.

I would say that's pretty good.

3 pt shooting is what i was referencing.

G-Town 3-4 3pt
Syracuse 0-1
St. Johns 0-5

Might just have the St Johns game stuck in my head.

MattyWarrior

Todd Mayo has been very good ,especially for a frosh, he looks to have a great feel for when to drive and where to be on the
court when hes in.

Welcome to ignore.  You clearly have nothing to contribute.

Then ask where Todd Mayo's 3 pt game is.  Don't ask where his offense is, and don't title the thread implying he's lost, because I'm pretty sure that if he slapped you upside the head, you'd know exactly where he was.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I think everyone on the team has now officially had a thread bashing them in some way. I wonder what the board would look like if we weren't the 24th ranked team in the nation....

Right.  Always something to complain about.  Why the love for Crowder?  Where has Mayo been?  DJO looks as bad as Mcneal did.  Jamail looks like he won't be on the team next year.  Blue has no offense.  Junior is slow and fat. All our players have shortcomings so we just need to accept it.

Clearly Mayo's shooting was down vs. St John's but thankfully we didn't need it anyway since DJO and Gardner showed up.

Bashing = honesty. Anything else = kool aid drinking fanboy. Haven't you been paying attention?

ummm...you inverted SJU and Cuse on the treys....the kid made 7 out of 8 shots all night vs.  SJU including FTs, is averaging almost 11 in BE play, and is one of the top 5 or 6 freshman.  Also is one of the top of all BE players in pts per 40.  So you asked where is he?  Look up.

buckchuckler

Just looking for something to bitch about eh?

MUMac

I said this in a previous thread.  I think Mayo hit the proverbial freshman wall.  Was a few weeks back.  Takes their legs away.  Usually takes 2-3 weeks.  I saw signs of his coming out of it against SJU.  I am expecting that he has a very nice game tomorrow.

my guess is qdoba, but that's just where i would be right now if I was on campus.

brewcity77

A year ago around this time, people started asking the same thing about Vander Blue. That's become acceptable practice, apparently because he was a 5-star recruit. Yet as Mayo's turnovers have gone up and points have gone down, he is still immune to criticism because he's a freshman. The double standard is funny.

I love Mayo's game and think he'll be a stud, but like Mac said, he seems to have hit a bit of a wall. Hopefully he will play through it and SJU was an indicator that he's ready to break out a bit. His points off the bench are immensely key to our success, and if he can continue to provide an offensive punch, our odds of going far in March are much better (somewhat like how Novak's points were immense 9 years ago).

MU86NC

My God  - the kid is a freshmen and has contributed in ways i couldn't imagine before the season started...  Thank God Mayo is playing at MU!

tower912

Right where he is suppposed to be.....contributing to a Big East team as a freshman.    Of course he is going to have off nights.    Duh.    But he is giving more than most would have predicted 6 months ago.

I think the more appropriate question would be where were you on Wednesday night?  My guess is probably NOT watching the game.  Great second post, though.
