Good luck Friday guys....two Jesuit schools doing the Society of Jesus proud (let's hope). Not sure what to make of how we match up. We started the year really poorly and since a bad loss to UC in December we have been on a roll. We definitely have two guys who can take over a game (Tu and Cheeks Lyons)....and two big guys who can score freely inside. The key for our team is shooting of one of small forwards (converted guard) Dante Jackson and points off the bench by Jeff Robinson (big, athletic kid who has come on strong in the last 10 games). Good luck on Friday....we are trying to reach our forth straight sweet 16...we don't underestimate MU at all.

Yeah, I agree, I think this is a better draw than an 8/9.  The first round is a team just as capable of winning, with a very tall order with a 1 seed ahead.

We have beaten a 2 seed, 2 3 seeds, a 5 seed (twice) and a 14 seed already.  Lets beat a 6 a 3 and a 2 and then take out OSU!!!!

Enjoy the matchup.    Thanks for a classy post.  Win or lose...enjoy some skyline chili in Cincy.

Cheers!

We have no quality out of conference win.  Now is the time to remember that and play with a major chip on our shoulder.  The majority of Xavier fans are looking past us.  Buzz  better disect Xavier and find the weaknesses in their armour.

Someone posted that they were at the Annex and the players were disappointed with the seed.  I like that.  This team seems to play better with a chip on their shoulder.

Last year we were a 6 seed playing an 11 against the P10T champion Washington on the West Coast. This year, an 11 playing a 6 close to home.  What is the difference?  11 BE teams in is record breaking.  Our BET run cemented it.

Xavier fans are loyal and very basketball savy.  Very good fans, travel well.  Two "Basketball Is King" schools.  Ramble on to Cleveburgh Warriors' fans!

I wonder if the players were more focusing in on the 11 seed number instead of say a 9 seed, but not really realizing that if they can win their first round game, they won't be staring at playing a team like OSU next as Villanova has in front of them via their 9 seed.

Sure, simple odds are also against us making the Sweet 16 since we'll be the underdog vs Xavier and if we win, we'll be an underdog vs Syracuse. That said, at least we'd have a chance in both games while Villanova has almost no chance to beat OSU if they can get past George Mason.

Just read on another site that our game will be on Tru TV.  Not sure where that info came from though

That does not surprise me.  I watched the TV shot of them reacting .. it was almost like they looked away from the TV when they saw 6-Xavier, thinking no way are they an 11.   Then a couple guys seem to shout and it looked like a few heads had to turn toward the TV, like .. "what??"

I noticed that, too. Frozena looked pissed, haha

Its gonna be a Catholic Collision, baby!

A Real Good Friday!

Yep, a regular Jesuit Jihad!  err....let me come up with something else.   ::)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Better in Cleveland than on the West Coast for all of you Midwesterners.

Though Cleveland is an armpit city, at least you won't get any residual radiation from Japan.

I actually really enjoyed Cleveland the times I've been there.  Hasn't been for about 5 years but it was pretty nice.  Downtown arena, great bars and restaurants.  City has a bad reputation that I don't think is entirely fair.  cough cough milwaukee cough cough.

Ouch

Cleveland gets a bad rap.  Better than a number of cities I've been to.

Sporcle has a MU quiz up.  We should all get 100%

It's a cute lil quiz...I got tripped up by the last guard that they think we have...and the "second round" part.

Yea I think they used an early roster.  For some reason I couldn't come up with Davante.

And I really don't like everyone calling Thursday-Sunday the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  4 games does not a 1st round make.

No kidding

George Mason is a quality team and could beat us just as likely as Xavier could and if Villanova manages to win that game, they are stuck playing OSU.

I'd gladly take our situation compared to what Villanova got.

As I predicted they would be on Friday, the seed numbers are meaningless. Is WVU a 5 seed, while MU is an 11? Maybe, but doesn't seem that way.  Once you get past the top handful of teams, none of it matters. They took the blob of 5-11 seeds, put together match ups and sites, and adjusted the numbers as they needed to. The fact is, there is little discernible difference among the vast majority of those teams.

I second what Chicos says.  I spent a lot of time there on business and I was never bored after work.  I enjoyed the Great Lakes beer.

I agree with this for the most part, but the issue I take with the committee is how they put four BE teams on a course to meet eachother in the second round.  I've seen them bend over backwards to avoid repeat opponents before the sweet sixteen, no less the second round!  This was done intentionally to cancel BE teams out, and it's bs.

I second the BS claim.  I have a bet with a friend on the number of Big East teams advancing to the Sweet 16.  The bet was made Saturday night before the pairings were set.  This kind of shenanigans will not help me.

(For the record, He wins if 3 or less make the S16, 4 teams is a push, and I win with 5 or more).  I guess I still have a decent chance, but it sure could have fallen better...
