Pitino walked out of one of his summer games after watching him showboat  and stopped recruiting him as well.....if Pitino didn't want him that should tell you something, especially with his already very thin roster.....he would have been cancer to our program......it would have been far worse than the Maymon situation in the long run.

Pitino stopped recruiting him earlier this week when it became clear that he wasn't going to get him.

Does the fact that a player is not being recruited by a school preclude that person from adding said school to his "list"?  Kevin Hart wasn't recruited by anyone, yet he faked an entire announcement.

Closer to home, a recent MU recruit had other schools "on his list" that were widely believed to have not even made an offer or even been recruiting the individual at all.

MU made Miller's final 5  -- so what?  I'm putting Marquette on my final 5 list right now... that doesn't mean Buzz has made me an offer.

I'm sure it could happen, though don't you think it would be very odd for one of the top players in the country, arguably the best player, to recently add a school to his wish list if he wasn't being recruited by that school?

The Kevin Hart example is silly in many respects because Kevin Hart was essentially unheard of in the football world (a 2 star recruit).  It's also football where 20 to 25 member football classes are possible.  We're talking about one of the top 2 or 3 players in the country (supposedly..if you believe the rankings) in a sport where most schools only add 3 or 4 kids each year in a recruiting class.  I don't think this comparison is even remotely appropriate.  When one of the top players in the country says you're in his final 5 in the last month before he commits, that typically means the school is aware and has some recruiting interaction.

("Wish list".... an interesting choice of words.)

In answer to the question, not at all.  In fact, I think that the top players in the country are much more likely to embellish their "list" than 4 and 3 stars... if you're a 3-star and you have two high-major offers on the table, that's pretty good.  As a 4-star, two high-major offers would be less than expected, but still respectable.  To be a 5-star and have anything less than four high-major offers -- well, that would be downright embarrassing.

Some of these kids are so far out of touch with reality that they could very easily trick themselves into believing a coach who came to visit once upon a time has made an offer (when in fact he hasn't) simply to protect their own ego.  And of course, coaches can't comment on recruits, which makes it very convenient for these kids and their handlers to make up whatever story they want without fear of being called a liar.

And regardless of what some may believe, being recruited by a school or having an offer on the table isn't an open invitation to attend that school.  MU may have been added just a month ago, that doesn't mean the offer was still on the table 72 hours ago, if it ever was.  For all we know, Baylor may have been the only offer Miller and Bello had when ESPNU came calling -- I'm not saying that is the case, but it's certainly possible.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
