Fulce will be with the team next year... book it.

If we do lose another player for whaever reason, what are the chances that Buzz hires Cyprien as an assistant and he is able to bring in Daniel Orton from Kentucky or something along those lines?  Other than a situation like that, I don't see how we can possibly upgrade our team with the players that are left as I am not a huge Kane fan.  Rather just have Cube this year and fill his slot the following year and really hope that Liam is healthy.

Ecompt - any chance you can add more insight, is it a health issue, grade issue or something else?

Cyprien is going to Memphis.  No Orton, no ho, no way.

Yea, its essentially like a redshirt (although he can't practice), he can come back and play the next year... not sure how that works with the NCAA.

Maybe if he does take another scholly, he forfeits his remaining eligibility.

Where is this coming from anyways? It would be one of the weirder things we've seen.

It is nothing at all like a redshirt.  A redshirt still counts against the 13 basketball scholarships.  So that wouldn't resolve anything.

what I heard has nothing to do with Liam. I can't say anything more than that.

No details?  I want details and I want them right now!

I'm sorry, AT, I can't. If I could verify the information that would be different.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.

What I'm saying is, a team with a smart kid (who could get an academic scholly), could tell him they want him to "quit the team" and have him go on an academic scholarship for a year. He wouldn't get to practice with the team the year he was gone, but he could lift weights and physically develop that year and come back the following year and join the team on a basketball scholarship again.

Basically, the team gets to "redshirt" a player WITHOUT having it count against the 13 scholarships.

Make sense now?

Orton said yesterday that he's still going to UK.  Cyprien doesn't have anything to do with it.

I find it hard to believe the NCAA would allow that.

How about they just go get a job in the 'real world' like Stanley Robinson and come back the next year

A agree with you.

In my earlier post I speculated that once a kid quits the team and accepts another scholarship, he cannot go back on the team.

I don't know the official NCAA policies.

I bring the point up because Cubby jumping on an academic scholarship may be possible, but will take some work with the NCAA and will probably end any eligibility that he has remaining.

If a player decides not to continue playing basketball, what's the protocol?  I know while at MU, John Leurck and Joe Nethen left the basketball team, but I'm pretty sure they graduated from MU.  So did they have to foot the bill, or did MU help them out with that?
