Buzz says that he only wants to go after "high major" prospects.  Are there still any high major 09-10 recruits with whom we are still involved?  If Liam is o.k. do we stop recruiting for 09-10 now? If Liam is not o.k. and will not play next year, do we bank the scholly?

MuMark

What Buzz has said is he hopes to have 9 or 10 high major players on his team.

That doesn't mean he won't take a kid who he thinks can develope into a high major player.

Time will tell but it won't surprise me if we sign another player.

There is talk that even with the latest guard commit, DeAndre Kane is a possibility if his test scores improve.

One of the BIG East sites had a quote from the Patterson NJ coach Chaney where DJO played that a MU coach said MU may still need one more.

If you want to read a bunch of information into that quote I'd say it would mean that another guard is likely thinking of leaving AND Liam's situation is looking more positive.  Can't see that we would be loading up on play right away guards with only 2 possible centers using Liam ride for another guard.

Blackhat

rumors that MU has been sniffing around getting another big and now another guard.  That'd make for quite a transition and I'm  pretty sure "yall" could count this as officially Buzz's team then.

I saw Buzz on ESPN last night (he was on the phone) on a recruiting show.  He said something along the lines of they may still sign one or two more players.  I may have an idea where one of those scholarships would come from (I hope not); but I can't imagine where the second one would come from.

any rumors on Lazar declaring but not hiring an agent?

For the record, I was referring to Liam -- and really hoping that his scholarship is not opening up.  I have no information (rumors, speculation, etc.) about anyone else.

What position does Lazar play in the league?   He doesn't project as a 4 and he isn't ready to play the 3.   Assuming he really is 6'6"   ::), he needs to work on his quickness and left hand.

So, what have you heard about Liam?

I've heard nothing other than what has been on here and in the press.  In other words, very little.  What I haven't heard is "everything is OK."  Obviously I can't speak for ecompt...and it's not even clear if he was even talking about Liam.

I have heard, and this has been speculated on this site a lot already, that Cubillan is indeed going back to Venezuela and not returning for his senior season.  Personally, it makes no sense...why would he go home and not get his degree when he is probably only 15-20 credits short of graduating, even if he does ride the pine?  Who knows, maybe my "sources" got their "info" from reading the scoop, but they were fairly adament about it.

The Lens

I wouldn't be surprised if Cubillan was in school, still on a full ride but not on the team next year.

This.

And with the lack of good news about Liam to put everyone's fears to rest, you have to assume at this point that it's all bad news.

Can you give a guy a full non-sports scholarship if he is not on the team AFTER he has already had a sports scholarship, and have it not count toward the limit?  I know that the NCAA has a boatload of rules to try to avoid people warehousing players and given that Cubillan would have eligibility left it might be a problem.

Yea, its essentially like a redshirt (although he can't practice), he can come back and play the next year... not sure how that works with the NCAA.

Maybe if he does take another scholly, he forfeits his remaining eligibility.

Where is this coming from anyways? It would be one of the weirder things we've seen.

Generally, the only time you see players give up the athletic scholarship and get the academic or other scholarship is if they have been injured to the point where their career is over.  Wisconsin had it a few years ago with Latrell Fleming, Pitt had it this year etc.

bilsu

Culliban especially if he goes to summer school may not be far from graduating. He is not going to play next year. Does riding the pine out weigh getting on with the rest of his life? It does not make sense replacing Liam with a guard, but it does make sense repacing an empty spot with a guard. I still not conviced that Otule and Fulce are coming back as I do not see them getting playing time next year. Of course if Liam is done, Otule must be thinking he will play. I like Fulce, But I also like Butler, Williams and Maymon who I believe we be ahead of him when it comes to playing time. I am surprised that Hayward has not put his name in the draft. I think the feedback benefited both James and McNeal. I do not think he is ready for the pros, but if he puts his name in then we have to consider the possibility he does not come back.

Why do people keep thinking these guys are going to leave?  Both were injured during the most important time of the  year for an incoming recruit. They may have been healthy down the stretch...but they missed too much time early, and it set them back. They can both make strides this offseason, and turn into contributers next year.

Isn't it pretty obvious that Fulce and Buzz are joined at the hip? Fulce has followed Buzz everywhere he has been...hes not going anywhere.

Guy Fieri's Dad

Fulce is not going to leave Buzz.  If anyone is going to go I would believe it to be Cubillian

ecompt

what I heard has nothing to do with Liam. I can't say anything more than that.
