At the scrimmage he looked better than the bigs that did not redshirt, plus his size.  Sure he would of had some trouble but has to be better then Hamilton, if worse that's a problem going forward

So the fact that Gold far outplayed Crowl head-to-head in a rivalry game in December doesn't mean anything, but what a freshman did in an intrasquad scrimmage in October means everything? OK then.

It is almost like he missed nearly two months of preseason work due to two injuries.  Groin and foot.

I don't think the rest of the roster developed so much that he went from truly being the second best player on MU's roster to looking mostly overwhelmed this season, nor do I think his injuries were that catastrophic that he lost that much ability. I think he probably simply was never one of the two best players on MU's roster, and that intrasquad scrimmages aren't Big East level competitiveness.

To win in a one-and-done tournament go with experience over potential.

I doubt he sees the cubbord quite as empty as some people on this board.

Those comments were made in February, when our starting five actually did suck.  They've turned the corner a bit in the last few weeks.  If the bench is STILL outperforming them, then maybe there's more hope for next year than originally thought.
