We've gotten semi confirmed reports that recruits/recruits parents/players parents have visited over the years. If you wouldn't tell Tre to his face that he's not good enough and needs to transfer, you shouldn't say it here. Saying "x player is playing bad" or "x needs to shoot better" is fine, but there are several posters who routinely go too far IMO.

Ragging on the refs is fine. By and large, college reffing is inconsistent at best, and it's easy enough to roll my eyes at the anti MU conspiracy stuff.

I am going to disagree here.  This message board is for a bunch of MU fans to express their opinions about MU basketball.  The non basketball board is even called 'superbar'.   Of course there is going to be a loud exchange of ideas.  Of course there are going to be different personalities.   Of course we all make judgements about people by what they post.  Of course we are going to like some more than others. A microcosm of life.

I loathe racism, misogyny, bullying. 
I dislike the hive mind.
I have no respect for people who have a take and are then offended by that take being challenged. 
But also, remember that your opinions can be viewed by players and family members of players.
 Though you are relatively free to express your opinions, words have consequences and you are being judged by others.

It's funny, the Dodd's site game thread has a post about every 10 minutes of the game. The Scoop site game thread has a post every time the ball crosses center court. Can't there be a happy medium?

Meh, I see nothing wrong with the amount of game thread on scoop. That's literally what it's there for. To discuss the game in real time. To vent your frustrations, become extremely happy along with other fans.

But I mostly ignore the game threads.

First, if I said some of those things at a bar, my friends would move or the owner would ask me to leave.

Second, a message board isn't a bar.

A) we literally have a section called "superbar"
B) the discussions handled in the game thread sound pretty much identical to the ones my marquette friend group has at the bars.
C) not even close to the worst things said in bars on any given night.

Yep. Hence the difference between Scoop game threads and discussions/rants at bars.

Of course, no Scooper has ever reached through the interwebs and punched a fellow Scooper for a take he didn't like. Another difference between this site and a bar!
