I am pretty proud of my Brunson comp, as well.
Brunson is the goat of Villanova. 2 time national champion. National player of the year. NBA all star. Love Tyler but not close yet

Isn't "grit" one of Kolek's main attributes? Or is "plays with chip on shoulder" different than "grit"?

Or maybe one has to enjoy cheesy grits?

I was in Radio Doctors in the 80's when the New Jersey Nets walked in in their matching sweats.   Being even more of a basketball nerd then than I am now, I recognized who they were, not just that they were NBA players.  Kelvin Ransey, Michael Ray Richardson, Mickey Johnson, Buck Williams.   But nothing prepares you to see Darryl Dawkins walk through a door.   The largest human being I had seen in person in the real world.  Not just on an NBA floor.  Just immense.
I let them all be and watched amazed from a respectful distance.

Wally Ellenson was a world class high jumper

But, was he a basketball player?

After alcohol, Radio Doctors was probably my largest expense while in school

Largest human being I've ever seen: Mark Eaton.

In addition to being 7-foot-4 and 300-ish pounds, he had a massive head with a full beard.

T. J. McConnell, hey?

Very different players.  But they're both white guards.

There's no perfect comp, obviously, but Brunson has been the best comp all along IMHO.

Jimmy Jackson has used the Scott Skiles comparison more than once.

Yes I know Skiles is white..........but sometimes it's ok to compare a white guy to a white guy.......if the pigment fits wear it!

I do see some Skiles in TK's game. Don't see any of Gillespie, Arcidiacono, McConnell.

Brunson was a second round pick.

Sure, but he would be a lottery pick if they re-did that draft knowing what we know now.  If you're an NBA front-office and you think TK is going to turn out like Brunson, you draft him a lot higher than Brunson originally was.

Steve Nash

I've thought this too, but I'm always reluctant to make comparisons to an all time great.

Tyler and Nash are similar size and similar in terms of athleticism. I think they have comparable basketball IQ and court vision as well as passing skills.

I saw Nash play in person when he was on the Suns and watched him drain 31 3's in a row during warm ups. I don't think he hit the rim with any of them. Just pure, it was incredible. Tyler doesn't have anywhere near as pure a shot as Nash did. Doesn't mean he can't improve and develop his shot, but it's not there yet and probably will never be.

This is as good a place as any to ask this.  Has anyone noticed the national media - namely ESPN - has a couple of talking heads who pronounce his name ko-LEK? I've heard it on two different occasions now by two different people.  National player of the year candidate - get it right.
