Illinois version of Deron Williams

Deron was a brute who could bully opponents, especially by the time he was a junior. But yes, similar games. The sophomore Deron usually preferred to set up his teammates but also could score when necessary, so that's similar to Kolek, and Deron wasn't a freak athlete either. But he was thicker for sure.

As long as we're talking former Illini PGs, Frank Williams had a fairly similar game, though Kolek looks a little shiftier so far.

Obviously Kolek isn't as good as Brunson was, at least not yet, and Wright ran a different offense, but I still like that comparison. Lin too. So far they're my two faves.

The first name that popped into my head was Levance Fields from Pitt. Tyler plays more downhill but both were/are less than elite athletes that really set up their teammates well. It's been a long time since I watched Levance Fields though.

Tony Miller with a better shot. 

Once played pickup with Tony and a bunch of pro's and retired pros.  Went to set a screen for him and he waved it off... he said "one less guy I can pass it to".  All he ever did was hit the open man.
