At parent teacher conferences tonight, my son's religion teacher saw my MU gear.  He said he was a big Marquette fan and then told me a story.

His best friend from high school played basketball with Shaka at Kenyon.  The teacher showed me a picture of the two of them hugging after last Saturday's game and another of them posing.  The teacher said his best friend is the smartest person he knows.  His friend describes Shaka as the smartest person HE knows, that Shaka could be president, run Microsoft, anything.  The friend doesn't marvel that Shaka is a good coach.  He wonders what else he could have done had he so chosen.

Glow and I went out for pizza tonight near our home in Las Vegas, and a guy came up to our table and said, "I had to come over and say Congratulations!".

I had forgotten that I was wearing a Marquette shirt. He unzipped his jacket to show me that his shirt had a big blue "V" on it. He said, "I wish my team was doing as well as yours.  Shaka Smart is some coach!"

It's so cool that Shaka is so respected across the league.
Have some patience, FFS.

Good story.  Thanks for sharing.  We are fortunate to have him at MU.  Hope he's here for a long time.
