He's a Majerus disciple that's taken a small Jesuit school to the final 4.  That's all I need to hear.

Fun fact, Moser was committed to play at Marquette in 86 but MU pulled his scholly.

That's how he ended up as a walk-on at Creighton.

Marquette pulled his scholarship
Marquette ran off his mentor
Moser has already turned down St. John's mega offer
Moser seems really happy at Loyola

If MU is interested the sniff test tells me the feeling won't be mutual.

For those who know how these things work, how common are "informal" conversations while the tournament is still ongoing? Assuming for the sake or argument that Moser will at least be one of Marquette's targets, what is likely to happen in the five days between games for Loyola? Nothing at all? Speaking through a proxy? Full-on interviews?  If you'd rather, feel free to convert the questions to a generic school and a generic potential coach. Five days can be a looooong time in this context, and I'd imagine that a school wouldn't want to wait that long only to learn that the target has no interest or is interested in another open position.

I'd take Porter Moser as our next coach in a heartbeat. He took a small Jesuit school to the Final Four and has them super competitive again this year. His squad plays smart, team-focused ball. And remember, Buzz was a failed HC at New Orleans and that didn't seem to hold him back at MU

I think that "small" Jesuit school is bigger than Marquette.

When my wife was MS/MBA from Loyola back in 90's.....The graduation class was certainly not even close to the size of MU.....

>17,000 students at LUC

Approx 12,000 at MU

I have similar thoughts on this. My guess is that Moser's agent is busy with evaluating offers and knows Moser well enough to negotiate a proposed contract that could be on a "mutual understanding/agreement " basis, awaiting final details and a signature shortly after Loyola is out of the tourney.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Gotta be the case. I imaging it's offers into his agent, sketched out from all options (including a new contract at Loyola), racked & stacked, ready to move quickly on the most preferred within days of their tourney exit. I hope MU is it!

As Buzz said, "don't mess with happy".  Always been one of my core values.   As a young man I didn't know about that saying.

They changed it mid time she was going there from MS to MBA in "Organizational Development"......AKA......HR.......Who knows why.....

I think a harder school than DePaul......Pretty easy.....vs. Marquette......Much harder in some disciplines....Somewhere in between.....But her Master's was above my pay grade.....

On the subject at hand.....Let this play out.....If he is the "fit".....It will work out shortly after Loyola is out.....Everybody needs to just "be silent"....."Respect for all sides".....

My opinion with no outside info......We will have an "impressive" coach in the next couple of weeks.....

Goodman also reported Moser "covets" the MU job.

We should offer it to Moser and then revoke the offer just like the scholarship

If Bob Dukiet didn't want Porter, maybe that should add a feather in his cap this time?

Ha, probably true. Majerus wanted him, Dukiet didn't.

If I remember correctly it seemed like Buzz always used Goodman's leaked reports as a bargaining chip with MU.
Maybe it was Crean.

Well played.

Big Papi

Have to think that the MU job is perfect for Moser.  Heck he doesn't have to even uproot his family and move if he doesn't want to.

Way more resources, way more money and really not that much pressure.  We kept Wojo for 7 years so just 1 Sweet 16 run should buy him 10 years minimum.  A P6 conference without the pressure and other than Jay Wright, he probably becomes the second best coach in the conference.  Its the perfect job for him.  In fact, if he turned down MU, I would have to question his smarts.

Its going to be Moser unless a coach blows Scholl away with an incredible interview.
