How did Georgetown and Oregon St. "steal" bids? Both teams beat everyone they played in their conference tournaments. It isn't like either team became tournament champions because any of their games were forfeits.

They were not in the field based on their body of work during the regular season. In winning the auto-bids, they knocked out teams that were in the field based on their body of work during the regular season (Louisville and CSU). Because of that, their wins stole bids from teams that had better resumes than they did.

But everyone knows what bid thieves are and how bid thieves work, so I'm not even sure this is an honest question.

Finished 58 out of 203 brackets on Bracket Matrix. 66/68 teams right, 49 seeded exactly, 61 within one seed line. Did better than Lunardi or Palm. What hurt most was that the first two out (Louisville & Colorado State) were in my field while I had Syracuse & Utah State out.

Nice job man. Fun following your work.

Does Belmont have a justified beef with the selection committee?

Here's a solution: beat Morehead State in the conference tournament.

Alternative solution: get in a better conference.

Losses to Samford, East Kentucky, and Morehead State 2x with ZERO games against P6 teams all season doesnt warrant an NCAA bid.

Belmont would be a good NIT add. Fun team. Casey Alexander has taken Lipscomb to the NIT Finals before.

Sometimes people get a little carried away with some of these things. The Big Ten had a great year with a lot of great teams. But even the Big 10 I believe had a top four team non-conference record of 2-3 vs NCAA Tourney teams.

With the NIT Selection Committee, yes. With the NCAA Committee? No. It sucks that Belmont lost Q1 & Q2 opportunities, but losing their last 2 regular season games killed any at-large hopes. If they're 28-2, they have a legit case.

It will be interesting to see how this works out.  It's my understanding that after 6pm ET tonight, no team will be replaced, and if you can't play starting Fri/Sat your opponent is simply advanced.

I understand the deadline for conference tourney winners (though I'd argue logistics could have worked for a Wed EOB deadline), but for at large teams - it seems the 4 replacement teams could be on site and jump in any time before tourney starts Friday.

In addition, if Georgia Tech opted out, they would be replaced by Louisville, which would keep any NCAA credits earned in the ACC. Not sure what they'll do, but if they or Virginia let the next team up in, they would at least be helping their own league in the process.

No way GT or Virginia would opt out to preserve potential credits (assuming the replacement wins a game or more). They'll do everything in their power to keep their own hopes alive, even if they have to play with reduced rosters.

Even the 1 bid leagues (since their replacement would also come from their conference) would do whatever they could to play.

De'Vion Harmon, Oklahoma's 2nd leading scorer, has tested positive for COVID-19. He will miss the first two rounds of the NCAA Tourney.

No close contacts, which I find a bit suspicious. I wonder if this goes the way of the NFL and they just power through unless you are positive.

That does sound odd. How does a BB player not have close contact with his teammates? Does OU become the first team to withdraw after they get another slew of positives once they're in Indy?
