Eight straight quarterfinal losses.

This is a really dumb way to make predictions.  Sure, they may have lost in the quarterfinals in recent past, but the thing about college basketball is that every year it's a new team.

There were some promising things that we may be able to build on that came from the second game with them.   The first 25 minutes were more of a repeat of the first game.

But MU made a nice comeback over the final 15 minutes.   Chopping down the 13 point Johnnies lead to eventually taking a lead in the final 30 seconds.  Only to have Ponds hit the basket in the lane near the end.

Markus and Sam went the full 20 in the second half.  Sam scoring 12 to lead the way.   But Theo and Ed made their presence known by combining for 12 points and 10 rebounds in the second half.  Markus had 4 assists and 2 baskets.  So we made the comeback without Markus scoring.
Chartouny played 12 minutes with 3 assists, and was on the court for most of the comeback.
Joe C was also one of the bright spots in the first game, playing 31 minutes.

I would not mind pushing the tempo here and there tonight.

Not because it will tire them out, but because most of MU's turnovers are on the perimeter due to bad ball-handling, lazy perimeter passes, or forced entry passes.

Push up the court to get the ball into the lane without a turnover.
We don't need to force tempo, but we'll need to be able to drive and kick with regularity.

Maybe wait until you get to 50 years before making predictions...

I disagree.  I watched about 7 teams totally run out of gas in the second half yesterday on day 2 of a back-to-back.
St. John's is not a disciplined team in the slightest, and I think they get sloppy and short in the second while we pull away.

And they only time they looked comfortable is when they were running.  Slowing them down and making them actually run an offense is one of the reasons they struggled.

Eight straight quarterfinal losses.  Coming in on a four game losing streak.  Having lost both games to SJU this year.  You think they will win tonight?  Well good for you.  I want nothing more then to be wrong.  But they will lose tonight.

Well, I guess you are 31-1 predicting Marquette games this season. Nobody's perfect.

These kinds of predictions are the easiest to make. Go negative ... and then you can say, "I'm glad I was wrong."

Yes, I thought they would win tonight. We lost by 1 to them last time, and we shot it like shyte. Tonight we shot it well and played good D, and we were the fresher, deeper, better team. But I know ... that's being naive and not a knowledgeable fan of 45 years who knew -- ABSOLUTELY KNEW -- that we had no chance to win tonight.

Thanks for the laugh!
