And yet no one seems to care about the physical attractiveness of any of the men's teams.....

If it makes you feel any better, I heard quite a lot about the attractiveness of the GU men's soccer team after my daughter's visit there.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

I sincerely stand corrected. I never heard anything about that while at MU. Not sure if that is an idictment of me or the university or both. To be honest, I didn't even know MU had cross country. I knew we had track.

It is probably not an indictment of anything except that track at the collegiate level is not an overly fan friendly sport and cross country even less so.  There are no home cross country meets (except an occasional hosting of the conference championships at a park far off campus), no home indoor track meets and only one or two outdoor meets in usually less than ideal conditions.  The only way to really know back then of the success of the team was by reading the school newspaper (not sure they even have a paper copy anymore) or knowing someone on the team, and with close to 100 men's and women's cross country and track & field athletes, there is usually a pretty good chance a student might know someone.  Nowadays it is definitely easier to know of the success of the team than it was back in the early 2000's when you were a student, simply because of social media.  I am pleasantly surprised at how many people are aware of the track teams success at the Big East indoor and outdoor championships the past couple of years and I think face book and twitter are the main reason.

Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers
