Buzz has his faults, but......should have shared COY honors in the ACC:

http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/2016/3/9/11184548/acc-tournament-day-one-state-fsu-advance

The coach of the year vote should have been tied – Saturday morning I was consulting with a very well-respected writer as to our All-ACC picks. I argued for Williams and he pushed Larranaga.

I can understand that – at that point, Miami was tied for the ACC lead and had a chance to win the title outright or clinch a tie for the title later in the day. But the 'Canes were playing at Virginia Tech – and that gave me an idea. I proposed to my friend that we make a pack and agree to vote for the winner of that game.

Had Miami won, I would have voted for Larranaga (and I would have felt good about it, since he would have guided his team to the ACC title). But with Virginia Tech winning, that created the eight game improvement for the Hokies and left Miami tied for second place in the league.

My friend agreed to the bet ... but he reneged and voted for Larranaga, even after Williams' Hokies hammered the Canes in the final.

And if you would have left that bold part out no one would even give your statement a second thought.

I will never forgive Buzz for taping that story about Buzz's Bunch right before he bailed.

He exploited those poor kids featured in the story to polish his own brand.

He is also still engaged with those kids.  Sends them books, calendars, posters, etc. every year.  He also invites all of the kids to VTech for a similar camp that he ran at MU.

That's good, but I still think it was a very self-serving piece, that (not so) coincidentally, was produced when he was actively seeking another gig.
Have some patience, FFS.

Stay outraged on behalf of those kids and their families if you must. They're anything but.

Honestly, who cares? It was a good thing to do. Ulterior motives and publicity be damned.

MU fans can be such jilted lovers when it comes to ex-coaches.

I miss Buzz.

I'm sure I miss winning, and have forgotten about his final season at MU, but I still miss Buzz.

Completely agree as I am one of those families.   Where he coaches is simply a job or career like everyone has on this board.  What he did and continues to do for those families goes beyond coaching.  As a MU grad I think that is something I appreciate more than the wins and losses.

Interests are not always conflicted. I agree it would be upsetting if he had benefitted from harming kids, but he helped others and was rewarded (in reputation) for doing so. Where's the problem?

I still don't get why he made such a big deal of some shuffling around during the anthem.  I'm not faulting Buzz for it, but it is kinda an overreaction.
