So you want us to hire guys as ADs who learned do it the "ND way", which turns out to be "Just win, baby", but you object to coaches who (you think) feel that way also. Priceless.

I'm happy to fall on my sword twice if you wish.

Like I said, PRN makes good points.  My comments yesterday were about the success of their athletic programs, the fact that they have high academic standards but still succeed.  PRN's points are well taken as are yours, as it relates to the other conduct.

That is 80% of their arrogance problem. They actually believe that their poop does not stink, but should be marketed to NBC.

How is that any different than how MU fans treat UWM?  Or UNC fans treat NC State?  So on and so forth.  That's just the nature of fandom.  When I was at MU, it was the Catholic safety school and most everyone that applied to ND was rejected, so I always took that as part of the bitterness people had toward ND....that and Digger, the fact that they have owned us in the overall series, plus some very good games that have been epic.  But I don't see their actions any different than any other fan bases.   Ask a UWM fan about MU, and they will say rich, spoiled, arrogant fan base.

I'm not opposed to the hire, the guy may be terrific. I hope he is. I just laugh at the concept that having an ND background somehow puts him on a higher ethical plane than we who are not worthy. Total hogwash.

Doesn't put them at a higher ethical plane, but it does show you can have success in your programs (not just football and basketball) with high academic standards.

They have an outstanding athletic program, better than most, and they do it (for the most part) better than most in terms of academics, etc.  Are their issues, of course.  And no doubt that ND haters can't wait to jump on them, just as Duke or Stanford haters do the same thing, etc.

Another example of ND arrogance. They hate all schools except the pigeons they schedule to pad their record.

I don't follow ND football to the level of the diehards, but I'm not sure I would mock their schedule

When you schedule Stanford, USC, Michigan, Florida State, Louisville, Arizona State and Navy (yes, Navy is pretty good this year), along with Northwestern and Purdue (both teams down this year, but they are Big Ten teams), they get to have a Rice on their schedule.

Everybody knows that the internet is only cool to use if you are under 35.

LOL....I hope not, as my new job would definitely not be a good fit then.

Some great quotes on Scholl here:

"Sad to see him go," said Ball State football coach Pete Lembo, adding it was the natural progression for a good administrator. "I would much rather be around a difference maker for 2-3 see years and see them move on to bigger and better things than to have never been around them at all," Lembo said.

"I'm thrilled for Bill and his family," Sallee said. "This opportunity at Marquette is a great fit for him and I know he will knock their socks off up in Milwaukee! When you've been in the business as long as I have, you learn how important great leadership is. Bill personifies exactly that. There is no doubt we will miss him greatly, but he has impacted our department deeply and set us all up for a tremendous amount of success. I wish him nothing but the best. Personally, I will always be thankful that he brought me to Ball State. My family and I are blessed to be Cardinals!"

Kudos to Chicos for admitting a bit of a double standard. I think he didn't care for the Buzz administration and was pointing out the university was bending its standards for somebody he didn't think was up to snuff.

I want to go on record as liking this hire, by the way. Also, talk to any Domer who was around during the McGuire era. Almost off of them loved the Marquette rivalry

Chicos--you of all people should realize that ND fans and ND itself smack of arrogance more than any other school. If you do not realize that, then you definitely live a sheltered sport life. There is no comparison to how MU fans treat UWM and ND arrogance.

Honestly, I had a ND intern last year who was terrific.  The CFO at my previous gig, a ND grad and very well heeled, and one of the nicest, down to earth people I have ever met.  Always asking about MU.  Met with a ND alum running 120Sports in Chicago a few weeks ago, good guy.  Three of my vendors ND grads running the show, good peeps.  Quite frankly, they're more interested in pounding on Michigan or USC then MU, and see us more in the same Catholic basketball bubble fro that perspective.

We all have our different experiences, but let's not pretend that other fan groups don't feel the same way about MU that some of you do about ND.  For the record, I used to feel the same way and I no longer do.  Getting older I suppose.  Hating just shortens lifespan.

Frenns Liquor Depot

For what it is worth one of my friends was a manager for ND football back in the day. He just sent a note raving about Bill and what a great person he is.  He didn't have to do that and It does speak highly for Bill that he did.

Bill Cords did fine with zero intellectual capacity... why change?

Somebody email Cords this.   Bet he'd get a kick out of it.
