Dayton has been consistent the last few years.  I would love them to come to the Big East to reestablish their old rivalry with MU.

Nonetheless, they probably lucked a little with their draws.  They were better than OSU and Syracuse just hadn't been playing well the last month.  Stanford was a matchup that was in Dayton's favor.
Nonetheless, they pulled out 3 wins in the tourney.  Perhaps Miller should have waited to sign his extension.  I think they will put up a decent fight against Florida.  Hopefully, anything that has been better than the last 2 rounds of play which have been subpar for the tourney.

Oh please. To say they lucked out by beating tOSU is ridiculous and discredits our teams job well done last yr.

there were plenty of people on this Board who wanted no part of Dayton in the New BEast. Now they are dancing while we are swinging in the noose.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Congrats to the Flyers

Still don't want them in my conference when there are much better options out there

Right. Lets not be a prisoner of the moment. Adding them will only dilute the conference. I say be stay at 10.

Living in OH - their fans are insufferable.  Don't look bad on TV.  Seems all good, until you have to talk to them.  They talk like they're Duke, but just can't figure out why don't get any respect.  And that was long before this tournament started.

The A10 and BE will merge in a 16 team non-football league.  It will be called the BE

Are you the source?

You have to respect the process.

Dayton has problems beyond court performance.

They have done nothing to improve the imagine of Dayton beyond that of a mid-major. That's the big problem in my book. In fact, I think they embrace being the mid-major.

They have never stepped up to the plate to pay a coach, their arena is cracker jack at best, the NCAA first round brings a poor presence to Dayton and their overall commitment to athletics isn't there.

I'd welcome Dayton into the conference if they make some commitments to their facilities (all sports) and start acting like they belong. Until they stop carrying their president through the streets of Dayton after making the Sweet 16, they shouldn't be welcome.

I have my issues with Dayton but I think you are being a bit unfair. Didn't they just give Miller a big raise? Their arena would be one of the biggest in the Big East. And I don't view the First Four being held there as either a detriment or an advantage, but Dayton could always get rid of it if they really wanted to.

They are not my first choice but the Big East could certainly do worse.

Everyone criticizing the fact that Dayton could get an invite after only winning "a few games in the tourney" should reflect on what the 2003 season meant to Marquette.

Winning a few games in the tourney got us in the Big East.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

Congrats to Dayton, but they absolutely do not belong in our conference. This year changes nothing. If they're playing in the 2nd weekend a few more times in the next 5 years, and with a coach after Archie, then maybe. Three wins does not make a school qualified to join the BE.

By that logic DePaul, Seton Hall, St Johns and Providence should be kicked out of the Big East.

Dayton and St Louis NOW please. Big East needs to continue to inject energy and enthusiasm into the conference.

The fact that Dayton's fans are insufferable is what makes a great fanbase, even if we can't stand them...they are passionate, travel well, very proud, obnoxious, etc.

As a conference, this is what you want in a fan base. The last thing you want is indifference (See DePaul).

Archie got an extension, but he hasn't be courted yet. They'll need to step up when programs start sniffing around, we'll see what happens then.

Have you been to the Dayton Arena? Worst than the Allstate Arena and the visiting team locker rooms are worst than Wrigley.

Been a Dayton supporter all along.   This hasn't changed that.    My biggest concerns about Dayton are having 2 teams in the same market and perception.    Having said that, I am very happy for them.   I remember fondly how exciting it is to go to an elite 8.    Let them have their fun.

1. But those two teams, Dayton and Xavier, are rivals and rivalries are what makes great conferences.

2. Dayton and Cincinatti are two different media markets within Ohio. Kind of like Chicago and Rockford.

3. Dayton is 48 miles from Xavier. St Johns is 40 miles from Seton Hall. Marquette is all of 80 miles from DePaul.
