Like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc....I agree.  Sometimes teams with two top 5 picks don't win the national title.  In fact, in the twelve times it has happened, only 3 won the title....25%.

Four, actually. Here's the rundown:

National Champions:

1.Michigan State,1979
2.UCONN,2004
3.North Carolina, 2005
4.Kentucky, 2012

National Runner-ups:

1.Ohio State, 2007

Final Four Semi Finalists:

1.North Carolina,1995
2.North Carolina,1998
3.UCLA, 2008
4.Kentucky,2010

Elite Eight losers:

None

Sweet 16 losers:

1.North Carolina, 1984
2.Duke, 2002
3.Indiana,2013

So, eleven teams shared IU's profile. Nine (82%) made the Final Four. Pretty amazing for a crapshoot. The two that didn't (UNC in 84, Duke in 02) will be remembered as the most disappointing in Dean Smith's and Coach K's careers. So TC has that going for him, which is nice.

I was talking the post 64 team field.  But for giggles, 4 won the title, 8 did not.

Thank you

We all know the crystal ball can turn in an instant but it's kind of cool to see Marquette got the first prediction for Diamond Stone.  It was by Matt Gravett, the founder of The Gopher Report.

Four won the title, but nine went to the Final Four. IU tied two teams for the earliest exit, and they were routed, not edged like the other two. So of the twelve teams in NCAA history that shared the characteristic of having two top 5 picks in the ensuing draft, Indiana's performance was twelfth out of twelve. Cling to your bad luck, "crap shoot", excuse making all you want but the fact is that IU laid one very large egg. All CRAP, no SHOOT.

GOO

Is there any indication that Stone is going to decide before next fall?

If not, then I can stop clicking on any Stone threads for a while, since these threads, like all threads, tend to be way off topic anyway.
