What does "partially guaranteed multi-year deal" mean exactly?

I would guess it means that they basically have the option to keep him cheap for a couple seasons if things work out, but that they can cut him without paying him much if they want. But I'm no NBA contract expert.

"I don't know what happened," Blue said of not getting drafted. "There's a lot more things that go into the draft than basketball. So I don't know.

Really?

Guess his grasp on reality hasn't improved.  As long as his game has, it's all good.

I'd agree with that comment. Between measureables, combine drills, interviews, and background checks, there's a lot more to who teams take than just whether or not they can play basketball. Sometimes not getting drafted can have as much to do with either not fitting a physical profile or an indictment of character as it does basketball ability, or lack thereof.

Tough game for Blue vs. the Spanish team.  I didn't get to see him playing but he didn't contribute much and was out of control from what I read on the Sixers forum.

Good for Vander.

Otherwise he would be getting heralded as the best player in the Big East and be making All-American lists.

Sometimes not getting drafted can have as much to do with either not fitting a physical profile or an indictment of character as it does basketball ability, or lack thereof.

It also has to do with the fact that a lot of NBA teams, for various reasons, don't really want their 2nd Round picks. One-third of the 2013 2nd Round picks committed to playing overseas before training camp even began. Blue may have told teams that he did not want to be stashed overseas for a year or two and, thus, they passed on him.

I'm not saying he's wrong. Odd time to catch on, y'know?

We're getting down to crunch time.  Here's a take on the Sixers most recent game focusing on Vander's primary competition for the final roster spot.

I'm no expert on 76ers basketball, nor most of those guys, but if you are to believe that article, one could reasonably conclude (hope) that Blue's skill set relative to defense, rebounding, energy, etc, coupled with the reputation of the Buzz Williams coached NBAers that have gone before him, should give him a little bit of a leg up on the competition.

Regardless, seems likely he will find a spot in the league some day, even if not this year, and if he goes and plays in Europe earning six figures for a year, or for many years, I defy anyone to tell me how leaving MU was a "mistake/stupid decision," as so many have suggested. The guy is getting paid to do the same job he did at MU - the job he wants to do. Only other difference is that he doesn't have to deal with the inconveniences of going to class, studying, tutors, etc.

Totally agree. He can focus 100% on his vocation now. Getting paid is quite the nice perk as well!

I hope he makes the 76ers and does well, but if he would have stayed barring any injury Europe would have always been there.

I'm not going to rehash his decision.  I'm simply hoping he makes the Sixers.
