since the gold hummers...which are blue, not gold, were a donation from a board member (Bergstrom), can you say that's on Crean? And i'd say more that he needs a fashion designer than a check on his arrogance from the outfit he had at Al's run...and didn't he visit Shumpert at 12:01 that morning?? He may not have been thinking straight. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They were gold until people began pointing out how ostentatious they looked. There's no way Bergstrom gave those things to the coaching staffs without checking on the color first. Somebody who requests a Gold Hummer is seeking attention. It's not the Hummers that people (not just me) objected to, it was the image the color gave off. Arrogance.

Creanis envy.

were the aforementioned Hummers gold as in gold metallic paint or gold as in yellow?  Cuz yellow is one of the more frequently seen colors on Hummers.  I think there are 2 in my neighborhood alone.  (No, I don't live near 4never in the Quon).

I was just thinking the same thing.  After black, I think the bright yellow Hummers are the color I see the most around town.  Of course, you can't possibly miss them.

I have lived in Carpenter Tower as a resident and RA the past 3 years...I have to walk past the Al every day to get to class since I'm an engineer. I have looked in that parking lot for Hummers of all colors and have seen 2 yellow (not metallic) colored ones at most! Other than that, they have been more of a navy and lighter blue. Nothing that is overly audacious or arrogant in color.

"Creanis envy".   Copyright that one or I may steal it to use elsewhere.   Perfect.

Athletics has the crappy Hummer colors, green, blue, red, and some others.

Black and yellow being the most popular, why would Bergstorm donate hot stock when he could donate the colors he has trouble moving?

mu_hilltopper

Hmm.  I think this needs to be updated.

I assume one of you is up to that challenge?

HarveysWallbangers

That's great...create a term that equates the name of MU's coach with male genitalia.

Perfect!

mu_hilltopper

Yes, yes, but in a way that belittles the people who publicly renounce him, but secretly love him. :-*

Ready2Fly

Who really cares what color Hummer someone drives or how the donor came up with his/her decision on what color to donate?

All I care about from the coach is W's.  We finish 12-6 or better in conference and make it to the second weekend in the tourney, and I wouldn't care if Crean and the rest of the staff drove replica NASCAR cars.  Well, I probably would, since NASCAR sucks, but I would care a lot less.

Landing Shumpert and Ben-Eze on top of that gives him a free pass to drive the Batmobile to the AL every day.  In fact, if we go 12-6 or better in conference, Win a few tournament games, land Shumpert and Ben-Eze, and the big donors DON'T pony up for a Batmobile, I'm gonna be pretty pissed.

Creanis envy is the funniest thing I've ever seen on here.

4everwarriors

I don't remember saying Crean didn't know how to "deal with the media." However, now that you mention it, he's no Al McGuire when it comes to handling the press. But, then again, who is? As far as his shampoo habits are concerned, you're on your own with that one. I only cut his lawn, I don't clean bathrooms.

My buddy, Ziggy, must live in the high rent district if hummers are all around. Bet the cars in the neighborhood are nice too. ;D

For those with Creanis Envy, my advice is to take large quantities of penicillin. It should cure you of the disease. If not, wax that sucker and start over.

Crean has driven a white Escalade for the last several years.  He has never driven one of the Hummer H3s that are leased to MU from Bergstrom.  BB assistant coaches and head coaches from other sports drive the H3s.

I like how this thread was started about the jerseys and how many there will be and if there will be special jerseys for Maui and because a few people have such a beef w/ TC they have to bring up something at every possible occasion, it turns into how our athletics head/assistant coaches can have the audacity to drive H3's leased to the university. quite a bit off topic, gotta love the message boards

You miss the point entirely.

Actually, I think you are the one missing the point.  I know you are a huge MU fan, but your tendancy to turn every post into a sarcastic comment about Marquette sickens me; to be be honest with you.

And, really, it's a detriment to himself when he does because now he's a three-trick pony. I'm not sure about anyone else but when I see he's posted in a thread I already feel it deals with 1) the nickname, 2) his season tickets, or 3) an insult on Tom Crean.

MUCam

I personally enjoy the comments that involve blaming the nickname fiasco on Tom Crean, which some how has affected season ticket prices (for the weak schedule).

*For the record, I do think Crean may have secretly been behind the "Gold" idea. Some say its arrogance. I say, you have to give him credit for trying, even if he did fall flat on his face (assuming, of course, he was involved in that decision).
