The Home Page notes the most ever online for MUscoop.  Here are all the days over 600.  Note that 5 of the top 9 are this month.

Online           Date                 Event
704             3/20/2011           MU/Syracuse - R32 (win)
692             3/28/2013           MU/Miami S16 (win)
654             3/17/2013           Selection Sunday
652             3/28/2008           Crean Quits
651             3/23/2013           MU/Butler - R32 (win)
611             3/21/2013           MU/Davidson - R64 (win)
610             3/13/2011           MU/Lousville - 3rd round BE (loss)
603             3/14/2010           Selection Sunday
602             3/5/2013             MU/Rutgers - Regular Season (OT win)

Does MUscoop set a new record tomorrow?

What is it if we lose?  If we win?

I say 750 if we lose, 1000+ if we win.

Mods, are the servers ready????

4everwarriors

Whatever record set tomorrow will be broken next week Saturday and then again on Championship Monday.

I've come to decide that we will be playing for the National championship against Ohio St., with the whole story line being they won't be canceling this meeting.

I'm guessing it'll stay in the 600s.   While Scoop is more popular today, people are also farting around on Facebook and Twitter after games.

Hey Mods ... what happened yesterday?  It says 1,067 people were online yesterday at 5:02PM.

This was the day AFTER we lost to Syracuse (which peaked at 567 people online).  So, it was not an MU inspired event.

Unless this is an error, did MUscoop break its old March 2011 record of 704 because everyone heard about Kevin Ware's broken leg and all jumped on to MUscoop looking for a video and/or explanation?

If my theory is true, you think this was repeated by many other College BB message boards?  If so, was Ware's broken leg the internet peak of college basketball message boards?

The only stats I can see .. seem to suggest yesterday was a normal day, not a huge traffic day.

Maybe Rocky can fish up some other data.

Interesting theory, though, about people wanting to read about the UL injury..

Speaking of which, any orthopedic surgeons on the board?  Any chance steroid use makes bones more susceptible to fracture?
Ludum habemus.

I think it is the LARRY WILLIAMS RESIGNS! post pinned on the top of The Al that put Scoop into a previously unseen level of froth.

Thanks for bringin' this topic up. I've viewed the injury several times and aside from the horrific magnitude of what took place, the ultimate question is why? Certainly there have been greater collisions and more vulnerable joint injuries with seemingly less hard tissue trauma. Wouldn't you expect ligament tears before a mid long bone fracture?

Future orthopod here (residency starts July 1). Based solely on the replay, I'd assume this was a "low energy" mechanism, meaning there was rotation around the long axis of the tibia rather than a direct blow to the bone, which would constitute "high energy" injury.

The caveat here is the extent of the soft tissue (skin and muscle) damage that occurred, as "low energy" injuries are typically associated with relatively minor soft tissue injury. As has been mentioned, it's entirely possible that in his attempt to avoid the edge of the elevated floor Ware twisted awkwardly, and as a result the low-energy rotation (and subsequent fracture) combined with the weight of his landing resulted in more extensive soft tissue damage than would normally be expected for this type of tibial shaft fracture.

Ultimately it could have been worse. This was a dramatic and ugly injury, but managed properly he should have minimal residual effects. Wish him the best.

Digging a little now, but can dig more tonight if I don't find a quick answer.
