I'll be curious to see how the conference formerly known as the Big East will brand itself knowing that Louisville (maybe Notre Dame if they're still there) will be gone the year after, and that UCONN and Cincy are chomping at the bit to jump ship. Sounds like a nightmare scenario for ad firm given your key selling points will be gone in a year or two.

On a similar note, how much money are these teams going to invest in the new conference identity (court decals, literature, apparel, etc.). A lot to think about, long-term, for whichever firm is hired to launch this enigma.

Given the transient nature of conference membership these days, I am really surprised that a new one would give itself a name that had a number in it.
Have some patience, FFS.

That is exactly the kind of awful conference name I was worried the C7 were going to come up with (if we didn't get the Big East name).

Maybe they should be more inclusive, "The North America X" conference where x=infinity.

Incidentally, the site is blocked at work for me as having "Suspicious content."

I have to imagine that C&B is probably trying to register a whole bunch of domains to have options to choose from. I can't imagine the rights to America 12 are all that expensive.

Quick!  Let's trademark Americas 8-11 and 13-16!

Exactly. So glad we don't have to fool around with any of that stuff....goofy names that get focus-grouped to death.

I like Big America or Great America better.  I guess you can't use Great America because of the amusement parks.  America 12 isn't that bad, considering anything based on geography is near impossible to come up with due to diverse locations.

Know what you mean, Wchick, but math is not the strong point for a lot of folks - otherwise there wouldn't be 12 schools in the Big Ten, and 10 schools in the Big 12. Why don't those two just trade names? And don't forget my favorite, the Atlantic 10 Conference. Hell, they didn't stop at 12 - they have 16!

T-t-t-t-trade names?! Have you learned nothing from Keefe's lectures on the value of a conference brand?
