Iowa State running out the clock in their win.  Not sure if it was a steal or they just dropped the ball down, but Lamb comes out with it and amid a chorus of boos takes it to the hoop for a buzzer-beating windmill dunk...and misses.  :D  Better luck in the 2014 tournament I guess.

brewcity77

That was hilarious. I was cracking up something fierce when he missed...looked like not just a tool but also an idiot.

And this game reminded me why you want to be careful with the trendy second-round upsets (third round...now). Sometimes, that trendy upset team isn't playing on the next day. UConn just never understood the work requisite to achieve their goals, interesting since they are coming off a title. But while many of them may have watched Walker, I don't think any of them understood how much work it is to be a player like that. Outside of Napier (who's no leader) there is no heart on that team whatsoever.

MUDPT

I think Iowa State dropped the ball to let the clock run if I remember correctly.  Hilarious, but we could have used Lamb.

Oh, and in case anyone missed it...Roscoe Smith had a famous full court heave with 11 seconds remaining in the game last year.  He followed it up at the end of the first half tonight with this: http://deadspin.com/5893791/roscoe-smiths-attempt-at-a-buzzer+beater-was-the-worst-since-roscoe-smith?tag=ncaa-tournament

Boatright is a cancer.

I heard boatright is declaring. Has anyone heard the same?  I have no idea the validity as I saw it in twitter

That play more succinctly sums up UConn's season than any commentator could.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Maybe a team in the Czech Republic will take him?  Kid has talent but is seriously immature, would need to make a ton of progress to be NBA ready - thinking at least two years.

brewcity77

UConn is in a lot of trouble now. With the NCAA ban in 2013, some are questioning whether or not Calhoun will be back. I'm guessing Drummond and Lamb at the least will both declare for the draft, now possibly Boatright as well? While there may be some addition by subtraction there, that's a truckload of talent. And if Calhoun is gone and the NCAAs aren't attainable, might they see some transfers out?

UConn could really disappear from the NCAA landscape almost overnight.

I'm thinking that UCONN is dead-program-walking. I'd like to believe this is the end of their "elite" run. They will flail in the years ahead. Boatwright declaring? Lamb leaving? Drummond leaving? Banned from tourney next year. Add Calhoun's health. Who wants to live in Stores, CT? It sucks. UCONN is UCONN because of Calhoun. It's not going to be the same without him. And he doesn't have much left but a mess. Why come back next year.

ecompt

I would wager that was Calhoun's last game. If you heard him at halftime he sounded like he was sick of his players. They're not making the tournament next year anyway, and there's little chance of them making it the following year either.

I really hope that's the case. I think I sat in front of their most obnoxious fan last year in Hartford when we beat them in OT. I gave the guy behind me an earful after we pulled out the victory. His response to me was that MU has never and will never be the same program post-Al. Would love to run into that guy again.

No, Markaz, I definitely sat in front of the most obnoxious CT fan last year.
My wife wouldn't let me get the same seats this year it was so bad. When OT ended, I just gave him the biggest crap-eating grin you could imagine.

Hee hee - this is the current picture on the home page of the NCAA website:

Have some patience, FFS.

Agreed, I can't figure out what all the talk about a UConn / UK match up was about.  Not only would they have been killed if they got there, there was about 1% chance they would even get there.

No I sat in front of the most obnoxious UConn fan! Anyone who sat within earshot of a Uconn fan can make that claim, same goes for Cuse.
