LSU will be interesting. They are very, very young. I'm glad we're headed down there this year and not next, this year looks like probably NIT for them at best based on youth, but give Johnny O'Bryant a year of seasoning and the rest of their fantastic 2010 class a bit more experience and they could be back in the NCAAs in 2013.

On paper, we should win that game based on experience, but they won't be nearly as bad as they have been the past two years.

Washington is a must win in my opinion. Its a neutral floor game but at a venue we are very experienced in and will probably have the crowd advantage. They are a solid team but we are deeper and more talented, so a neutral floor loss is not acceptable. Not to mention they just lost one of their players for a while.

I said 3rd game in USVI.  We stink playing 3 days in a row under Buzz.  Hopefully that will change this year with a deeper bench.

Lucky for Buzz that the Paradise Jam is a 3 games in 4 days event, then.

Beat Winthrop & MU gets Saturday off before playing the winner of Drake/Ole Miss on Sunday.

If MU makes it to BE play undefeated, as nearly 25% think, what will our ranking be?

Given that they would be 13-0, beaten LSU and UW away, Wash on a Neutral, Vandy at home, and the USVI Tourney I think we would be a top 5 team.  At that point their would only be a handful of undefeated teams left.

Agree?

It'd have to be the ranking going into the Vandy game, as there wouldn't be another ranking until after the BE season starts, but yes, your logic holds.

Definitely top-10, possibly top-5. It's almost assured that Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and UConn will be undefeated thanks to pretty soft schedules. I'd guess the winner of the Duke/Ohio St game will also be unbeaten, though it's possible both would be ahead of us regardless as they play in November. It wouldn't surprise me if neither UNC nor Kentucky were unbeaten as they both have a number of tough tests (including each other) but if one is, they'll probably be a unanimous #1.

Other Big East teams that could be unbeaten include Cincy and 'Nova, who have pretty soft schedules outside of road games against the cream of the A-10 (Xavier and Temple). Also, don't be shocked if Seton Hall or DePaul are unbeaten, or more likely 1-loss teams. Both have very soft schedules, though I'd still guess they'll slip up more than once.

First loss? How 'bout next loss?

That, my friends, won't be until the 20th game of the 2014-15 season.

Now excuse me while I enjoy another malt beverage.
