--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

here is an excerpt from an email that I received today but it was forwarded to me.....

"I am sorry to share some sad news ....  Coach Raymonds is in the hospital and has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.  He began radiation treatment on Tuesday, June 29 but the tumor is in a bad location in his brain and it is very serious.

He is in good spirits and a fighter but knows that it is very serious.  He is at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital for at least today but they are hoping that he can go home by the end of the week and will continue with radiation through the month of July.

His family has asked me to reach out to former players ....  please be sure to let them know as Coach will need all our good thoughts and prayers.

Since he will be home-bound while undergoing radiation treatment, I know he would enjoy visits, cards, letters or phone calls.  Ginny Raymonds and the family would definitely welcome one and all!"

Not a kinder, more decent man to grace the game of college basketball.

Prayers and positive thoughts go out to Coach Raymonds and his family.

Do we know an address where we can send cards to Coach?

MU1980

Coach Raymonds is one of the all-time outstanding people that have ever worked for the Marquette athletic department.  Great person.  My thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family.

ZiggysFryBoy

I'm guessing if u send it to the athletic dept, they'll send it on to coach raymonds.

Every time I see rondo change speeds on successive trips I remember doc rivers giving credit to hank for teaching him to play at different speeds.  Get well coach!

The only media attention to Coach Raymonds falling ill was in the Mke Journal-Sentinel today in an article about Bo Ellis' Warrior Day golf outing:  http://www.jsonline.com/sports/golf/97906644.html

QuoteEven former coach Hank Raymonds, who has been ill, vowed to attend.

"Robert Byrd went to the hospital to see coach," Ellis said. "Robert said coach said, 'I got to get myself together because Bo's golf outing is coming up.' "

Raymonds has always been a great guy and a true blue MU guy--- a real MU stalwart. May God be with him on this journey.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

George Thompson told me, when talking about the old team, "Al was the 'ringmaster' in the Big Top, but Coach was the glue that held the team together....Coach was the nuts and bolts guy of the  team and Al came in for Showtime, and they were a perfect team together."

Hank's son Steve played hoops with my brother at St. Thomas Aquinas in Milwaukee in the 60's, and got to know him as the father of a 6th grade basketball player prior to knowing him as MU's asst. coach.  He was and still IS "real people"!  Helluva guy!!

My prayers go out to Coach and his family.

Prayers from California.

He is a warrior.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.
