The latest from the Iowa boards about Buzz ...

http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/basketball/7757-search-monday-reset-3-22-a.html

Buzz Williams: He was a name that I really liked early on, and still do. Yet again, as is the case with many names you 'like', there would have to be a mutual interest. What does he gain by leaving Marquette of the Big East for Iowa of the Big Ten? Marquette has solid to excellent facilities. The payday might not be as big an increase as we might think, if at all.

Im all-in in stating that Buzz doesn't go to Iowa

I think Buzz would leave us for a Big 12 job if the money and time was right... but not Iowa... we aren't talking about wrestling, this is basketball

Historically, Iowa has had a very good program and solid high school hoops down there.  Tom Davis, Lute Olsen, George Raveling.

They've definitely been in a bit of a slide, but Iowa basketball is not without some proud history.  They have 22 NCAA appearances...Marquette has 28.

I heard that Allie McGuire froze his dad's head in a cryogenic chamber.  Maybe Iowa will be sending feelers out to Al's frozen head.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

I'm sure the track record of the last two MU coaching defections would scare the hair off Buzz's head.

Says Buzz has the opportunity to go to a TX Big 12 school. IMO I just can NEVER see him leaving. Now will he eventually? Sure. But Buzz always talks about how he is so thankful for his job and MU for giving him a chance (not to mention all of his stories). Also, he has seen how mad people are with Crean, I just can't see it. Am I wrong?

Not to mention his previous boss' record going from Texas A&M to Kentucky.

Buzz may leave one day, however, it would be good for his resume to show that he can sustain a program for 8 or 9 years.  Otherwise, Buzz is a mercenary who stayed at New Orleans for one year and Marquette for two years.  I can't see Buzz not wanting to coach Vander.  Buzz cried when he comitted.

so did Bo.

Bo never really wanted Vander in the 1st place. He would have never been able to handle the academic workload at a university with the prestige of UW-Madison.  ;)

Buzz has the personality that he wants to show the world that he came from the bottom and rose to the top. It is a perfect personality for a coach and the reason he is so successful, but unfortunately it also means that he would probably jump on one of the top jobs if they came available.

Hey Vikings, I like what you've done with the basement.

The thing is . . . Buzz has been in the b-ball game for a long time, with assistancships here and there etc/. a year at NO, and another assistant year at MU.  He's not some new assistant who got a big break, he's an experienced assistant who got a big break.  And I, for one, believe that he is sincere in being humbled and thankful for MU putting the reins in his hands.

If he's as good as we all hope he is, if he can continue to recruit and perform, if he shows that winning at MU is not only possible but replicable (meaning routinely good seasons, NCAA bids, advancement int he NCAA and maybe even (hope hope) a championship, then why not be like Coach K, and stay with a winning program that has your name all over it?

It's possible. . .
