When's the last Wisconsin kid to leave early for the NBA and actually make it?  And Vander isn't considered the best Wisconsin kid or even close to it in the last 25 years.

Caron Butler.  From Racine, played one year at a prep and then two years at UConn.  He wasn't considered close to being one of the best Wisconsin HS players of all time back then, didn't turn into a great player until he got to UConn.

I love your optimism, and I hope you're right.

What makes you so sure on Vander? What do you like about his game? I've only seen him play once on television last year.

Devin Harris is the answer. I think you'll find Jim Chones' career was just fine, thank you very much. Besides, it was a glowing success in the all important scheckles department.
Nonetheless, times have changed, but Vander leaves MU early.
