Did Father DiUlio come up with "Storm Hero"?

IF that wins, SJU will be the laughing stock of the NCAA and not because of their play on the court.

Hards Alumni

I voted for Storm Hero because that is the douchiest thing I have ever seen.

Lets stuff this ballot box!

Mayor McCheese

I think a 6 pack ab giant pectoral thunderbolt is pretty douchey.

Thats my vote.

I am a big fan of Thunder Horse.  On a related note, I can't tell if I like Thunder Horse ironically or for real.

Thunder Horse better be very careful if he ever runs into Art Long when they are playing the Bearcats.
Captain, We need more sweatervests!  TheManInGold has been blinded by the light (off the technicolor sweatervest)

Personally, I think Art better be careful if he ever runs into Thunder Horse.

Thunderhorse and Thunderbird both sound like malt liquors to me. And Storm Hero looks like a gazelle.

And STILL...they're less embarrassing than our mascot.

Will a fortified wine work?

Ludum habemus.

Henry Sugar

Not to mention that Thunderbird is one of the top international business schools out there.

No, Thunder Horse it is.

Does the bear remind anyone of this?

And I had to vote for the Thunder Horse in the end.  All I know is that I want to play in NYC next year so I can get my picture taken with one of these abominations of a mascot in person.   :P

GooooMarquette

I'm with Sugar on this one...Thunder Horse all the way!

Think there will be any write-in votes for 'redmen'?

I have a feeling they will settle on "Red"

Because PETA will step in and say that the "Red Storm Dog" the "Red Storm Bear" place an unfair stigma to those glorious animals.

Also the powers at be will be afraid to hurt the feelings of "Lightning" so "Thunder" will not be on the table--because it's only fair that "thunder" and "lightning" go together.

Now, the SPMCR (Society for Protection of Mythological Creature's Reputation) will hear about what is going on at St. John's and step in and claim that the use of those names are detrimental to the "image" of the Mythological Creature's "Thunderbird" and "Thunder Horse".  Of course the University will adhere because they do not want to step on any toes.

So what we have left is the "Storm Hero."  Now the PPSHA cannot let such an atrocity be committed by displaying one of their kind as a fighter--that should never happen as long as "intellectuals" rule the world. So the Peoples Preservation of Super Hero Alliance will tell the University that if they negatively show the "Storm Hero" they will wipe out St. Johns using their super powers as retribution to the outlandish ignorance displayed by the University.

So Like I said, "Red" will prevail as "Gold" did a few years back.

Storm hero sounds like the storm troopers from the Star Wars movies.  I was tempted to write in "warriors".  Ultimately, it came down to the thunderbolt vs storm hero.  Both were equally lame, but I finally chose storm hero.  We were supposed to vote for the worst one, right?

ok so black bears are ok because they are revered by Native Americans, but anything portraing a native american is not ok?

"Red Storm Bear: Black bears are native to New York State and can be some of the fiercest animals in the world. Bears are also animals generally revered by Native Americans, paying homage to St. John's Redmen history. "

There's at least one exception.  FSU's use of the name Seminoles is backed by the Tribe in Florida.
