His "owning the media" posture undermines his credibility a bit. Feels like somebody who might not be in the loop on this yet.
In his most recent tweet he's also advocating (in a whiny fashion) for one of his BBL players, Juan Nunez, to be drafted over Tyler Kolek. Seems like a guy who's starting to sense what's coming next for his dear Maxi and begrudges MU for it. Or perhaps, realizing the threat, is openly persuading Maxi to stay. https://twitter.com/ts06122016/status/1780588036582961583

Get him to Maders, hey. It will be a done deal.
If this does come to fruition with no other departures then Shaka must feel pretty good about some combination of Hamilton, Amadou and Parham providing depth behind Ben.

What's your best guess as to what Max brings? Starter? Rotation player from the get go? Bench guy? Red Shirt?
(If this is legit)...If he starts, it is probably at Chase's expense. 6'6, 195 is not big enough to play the 4 in the Big East.

Not an insider, but from the YouTube videos of him, he looks like he'd immediately be a dynamic shot creator - a player you could give the ball to end of shot clock and say "go get one," and he'd likely be able to deliver. Shot form looks good, and crafty with the basketball similar to Kam. But..does all of that really translate to high major D-1 from league he was playing in? No idea.

Yeah, he's listed as a guard and plays guard in the limited videos I've seen.

I would be surprised if he usurped any of the five likely starters (Kam, Stevie, Chase, Jop, Gold). If for no other reason than Shaka wanting to reward those who have put in more time. From the limited video I've seen of him he seems like he would be the first guy off the bench. Hard to know how he will transition to D1. I have heard some people who are really excited about him but he'd hardly be the first transfer who people were too optimistic about when he joined up

If he thinks he can compete at high level College BB, he will come to Marquette.
Too many pluses if he feels he has what it takes to compete at this level.
Given the 2 players we've lost, we need more talent. And, as this past season showed, we need more depth. Minutes will be earned.
Given he's German, I expect him to bring at least a partially red shirt
A lot of transfers take a good chunk of the year to adjust. Same with freshman. I'd expect him to be a good contributor by the middle of the conference season, but to be inconsistent until then.

Yeah. I see Max as getting quite a bit of PT, but Chase has proven himself. Max as the 6th man seems much more in keeping with Shaka's culture than bringing him in as a starter.
If he comes, the team benefits from having more and deeper talent. If he is good enough to start, that just means that he's really, really, good.

Yep. If this young man joins the team, all the other stuff will work itself out.
In the past year, there were Scoop-takes that Ross should replace Stevie in the lineup, that Lowery should get some/lots of Joplin's PT, that Amadou should get some of Gold's minutes, etc.
Based on Shaka's record so far, I'm confident he will give out PT in a merit-based way. What I'm a little less confident of is Scoopers' ability to dole out PT to an international player who hasn't even had his visit yet.
If the jumper translates to this level, on a team lacking consistent outside shooting, it's not a stretch to say he's probably gonna find PT.
My bigger concern is how the physicality is going to impact him.

Based on the videos I've seen, Max has the size, athleticism, and shooting ability to be a D1 prospect.
Other than that, we've got to wait and see. You never know how players will adjust to college until they get there. Chase would still project to be a starter, with Max competing for playing time with Tre, Zaide, and Damarius.
Just need two of those players to seize a rotation spot. I wouldn't expect any of them to beat out Chase, but if someone does it's a bonus. That would mean either a returning player made a huge leap or a newcomer is really, really good.

Sean Miller brought in a guy from Lithuania, a guy from Slovenia, and a guy from Serbia this season. One started, two came off the bench, and the one who started was coming off the bench by the end of the season. And that was for a .500 team.

If he ends up here, he seems like a strong shooter from deep that can create his own shot. Something we could definitely use.
Assuming the commitment, there is a LOT of offensive firepower on next years roster (I am a bit bullish on the steps Zaide (and Lowery) and Tre make going into next year and have always thought Owens and Parham will contribute in spot minutes on that end of the floor...if their defense allows them to get on the floor).
Should be fun. Can't wait to hear how much Willie hates Maxi after he misses his first shot in action. A few early suggestions for you, willie: LangenFolds, Suximillian

Conversion rate of dollars to Euros didn't work.
It seemed odd to me. I couldn't see the fit. Couldn't picture him coming to MU to sit. Couldn't picture how this would fit into Shaka's culture. I could see it if he was willing to come off the bench this season and take a guard spot next season. I could also see him declaring for the NBA after a season of US college basketball.
