again?
Colorado scares me a bit. They looked quite good offensively yesterday. Probable top 3 pick and 2 other probable late 1st / early 2nd rounders. An absolute load of a center. Didn't looked like they played much defense against Florida but overall defensively numbers aren't terrible. Going to need to play much better than yesterday to win.

We're not a 5 man roster but foul trouble bothers me too. Not sure why. But Oso, Kolek, Stevie or Kam sitting extra minutes because foul 2 early or foul 4 early... hamstrings Shaka. And if more than 1, ugh.
I left out Jop, I respect his game but we have bench to replace him.

I'm excited to watch the Oso-Lampkin matchup. Oso has shown the strength to match up with bigger and more physical bigs. And, I think his overall activity on both ends could end up overwhelming Lampkin. Lampkin is relatively nimble for a guy his size, but I think he'll struggle to keep up with Oso.

Yes. Oso must use his overall game and beat him down the floor consistently. Easy hoops early in the paint will open things up. Defend, rebound, and drop buckets from all spots and angles.

No foul issues for the starters, can't have the usual offensive scoring droughts and I hope Oso and Ross are contributing factors. I say Ross because he is just way overdue for a big game/difference maker. Let's hope Shaka can coach them up to a win.

Same, mostly because I think the door is open for us if we can get past this one. And although we are the better team, the tournament is the tournament, and there is no room for error.
I want to see an early run. Take control in the 1st half, we too often are a 2nd half team. Let's put together a complete game and dominate.

I 100% would opt for a Kam bomb from 3 over any shot from Oso at this point. He must just be physically gassed...which looking around at other games...I'm seeing a lot of bigs looking the same. Dante from Oregon was gassed all game last night but did manage to make a big impact. Kalkbrenner wasn't very active.

With our penchant for halftime adjustments, I'm hoping we expand this lead early.
That was good stuff...
The turnovers not so, even for both teams.
Thought when up 12, with the ball to extend, then a turnover leading to a basket, then another turnover, leading to that three after Joplin didn't hold the rebound, was going to be the bad MU stuff. But they held their own to keep lead in 7 to 10 range. Joplin hit a huge three to up it from five. Huge. Great stuff.
Knock off turnovers, yes Stevie that cute behind back pass......
Like Shaka said have to be careful with trapping. Colorado making passes, but missing open threes. Hope they continuing missing and no Kam third foul early.

And that has absolutely been true on the court, but I think Oso is far more talented. Needs to make himself felt. I believe in him.
If Marquette controls its own possessions, this game is theirs even with some 3 pt regression on both sides
MU is going to need a replay of the start of the game coming out of halftime
Btw, props to David Joplin again today for great effort on defense. His improvement has been really impressive. He's largely been assigned to supposed NBA talent De Silva and has held up really well.

We can attack the paint at will VBMG. I would be drawing pictures of piñatas at halftime if I was Shaka, with mini blimp Lampkin's falling out of them and handing them to Oso. LFG!!
Kudos for spelling piñatas correctly

Was thinking the same. He's a couple tiers up on the defensive end versus last year.
Oso needs to step it up, and we need to quit TOs

Oso wasn't even close enough to rebounds to tip them like he has been
Few quick observations:
1) these Colorado boys cannot guard Marquette where there is a lot of open space. Push the fast break whenever possible off of defensive rebounds, forced turnovers (a Golden Eagles specialty), and pick and rolls involving Lampkin. It's very obvious Lampkin cannot guard Oso in open space off the pick and rolls.
2) defensively, the deflections and activity is solid. The only thing is Marquette is allowing too many open looks from 3 pt land to Colorado and that is playing with fire. The assumption cannot be that they will keep missing those.
Horrible call.
not the start needed
Brutal Kam. And Oso, please grab a rebound. O rebounds so far.
Stevie being held was the foul
Such a dumb foul
Already a defensive lapse by Oso. Refs taking Jones out of game.
Giving them hope
See the zebras felt the need to rebalance this. Stevie getting fouled under the rim and then Oso hacked
Ouch
OHHHH BOY.
HERE WE GO AGAIN.
Oso blows a dunk. Here they go.
oso so so weak
Always mental mistakes with this team. Kam with stupid fouls, Oso getting blocked from behind by a smaller player for seemingly the 100th time this year.
Not the start I was hoping for.
One team came out with more energy
That was the worst possible way to start out the 2nd half.
Now its going to be a street fight.
Need to steal back the intensity.
Well that couldn't have gone much worse.
Oso is a fucking disaster
We'll that start sucked
God oso just sucks. Classic wide open dunk but somehow blocked from behind

Ughhh. Horrid. Gotta bounce back immediately. How did Oso not finish that?
I'm to the point of bench Oso. Gold has more energy and his shooting threat creates better spacing.
Like I said. No early Kam number 3 and hope Colorado doesn't start hitting threes. Ugh......here we go.
Was that Oso dunk blocked?

Fasten Oso to the bench
Unreal Oso
Oso needs to be benched
oso is fucking killing us jesus he sucks right now
Oso has been garbage.
That's the 3rd time Oso has mishandled a pass and it led to a Turnover. And they were all good passes.
That was one of the pathetic turnovers I've ever seen
Oso looks mentally lost this tournament.
Truly don't understand what is going on with Oso.
Joplin shouldn't be to far behind Oso
Sit Oso ass on the goddamn bench
Stevie got hooked/held. Then Oso got fouled
NBA Oso!
Not the day for Oso to have a bad game. Hope he can pick it up.
I'm befuddled.
Not in a great spot.
This game is sadly looking like the reverse of our 1st game.
Need to regain the intensity. Too much hands on knees. Make them uncomfortable.
lol who would draft him after this tournament
Gotta have something from Oso, besides poor play.
i keep thinking oso will get it together and he just will not...........unreal from a senior center supposedly first round pick

No chance
Even Oso's body language and expressions, seems like a different person. Needs to wake up or we might be cooked
It's hyperbole to say someone is playing scared, but my gosh, he literally looks scared
If Kam makes the shot no 3rd foul.
Now we know how WKU felt Friday. Plenty of time to right the ship.
Blowing it to a 10 seed. Get Kam back in.
Lets get Kam back in and score some points
Now the can't miss
What is Oso doing?
Grab the ball Oso.

Good stretch. Need to come back out and up it even further. Have Joplin's energy go off the charts, bring Mitchell back in for his special intensity and take it to them.
Make them scared to have the ball.
If you would have told me in January that Jop would play so much better than Oso in March I would've suggested drug testing. Just think how good they would be with both playing well
Good response, can't believe no foul on the guy trucking Chase on the reach. Gotta take care of the ball.

That was strange. He had a dunk, instead kicked it out to Kolek. Got to take what they give you.
Took their best punch and are steadying the ship. Big run coming.
36 points in paint. 4 FT attempted

Well...maybe Good Friday...
Day-after viewing thoughts:
1. Kam was probably the best player on the floor yesterday. If he's not in foul trouble, he drops 30, and the win would have been a comfortable one.
2. Uncharacteristic turnover numbers, but some of them seemed flukey. Oso in particular had a couple of hot passes that either off target or were too hot to handle. One of Kolek's was pretty clearly a kicked ball that turned into 3 on the other end.
3. I just can't say enough about Jop. He was handsy on defense and in position on both ends. The missed bunny looms large, but the fact that he was in that position speaks to Har far he's come. His board over Lampkin followed by a dunk on the other end in the 2nd was huge.
4. Chase had a number of big stretches, including a 3 followed by a steal when they had cut the lead early 2nd. This was the game I think a lot of us were waiting for. Also - he might have the best looking 3 pt shot on the team, even if he's not hitting at a Kam clip.
5. Surprised at the lack of minutes for Ben given Oso's passivity and Kam's foul trouble. Thought he was impactful in those very limited minutes, and Ben off the bounce has be a revelation down the stretch (hit your FTs).
Excited for Dallas!
A few other observations from Indy maybe not mentioned in the threads.
>>Deflections won the day. 10 steals
>>Lampkin didn't warm up either half. Sat on bench at halftime with a battery operated massager in groin area (BOB)
>>Colorado thought MU was going to intentionally foul on last play and were baiting for a four point play. Simpson was actually out of bounds on the shot.
>>Half of MU turns were unforced.
>>Colorado came out of half going downhill. It worked but it also tired them out. It was the only quadrant they won and Chase and Jop stepped up physically. They both hit big shots but also both got big boards.

A few other observations from Indy maybe not mentioned in the threads.
>>Deflections won the day. 10 steals
>>Lampkin didn't warm up either half. Sat on bench at halftime with a battery operated massager in groin area (BOB)

Agree especially with your third point. The easy pace of Simpson bringing the ball down court was bait, trying to get Marquette, up 4 points, to challenge his shot. I saw it as an insult to the intelligence of our team.

His board over Lampkin followed by a dunk on the other end in the 2nd was huge
Excited for Dallas!
agree...I thought Ben played well in limited minutes other then missing 2 free throws...hit a big corner 3 in 2nd half...and in 1st half had a good drive and got to the line and also had an assist on a kickout 3 to Jop....I'm really excited for this kids future..keep getting stronger and his shot is going to get more consistent now the fact he's showing he can put it on the floor with closeouts...think he's an NBA guy
Ben really struggled defensively when CU went five-out, but he did hit that shot. And that seemed big at the time.

I think DaSilva is a good goal for what Gold can become—good shooter who can also put it on the deck and finish and rangy on defense. Ben has shown those flashes, and I'm excited to see how he'll grow into a more central role in the next two years.
I think Da Silva projects as the big guard/switchable. I hope Owens or Parham end up in that neighborhood. I think Ben projects as a euro-style stretch 5 who can handle the ball, pass, shoot 3's, and make plays off the dribble against other bigs. Not sure he ever really projects as a big guard.

Ben will key in the next game. Better match up for him.
The BeeGee is going to be gold the next two years. Only a Sophmore big , he has a lot of upside coming
I thought Gold was decent but don't think he deserved more minutes than he got. The pace CO played in the second half was way too fast for him on the defensive end.
