Is there a smidgen chance that Shaka would target a wide body/glass cleaner with a knock-down 3pt drainer in the Portal? I'm not sure we have the space and I'm very happy with our returning guys and incoming players but I'm just thinking out loud here.

I'm thinking that player is heading to the draft rather than the portal.
When I went to Hebrew school 100 years ago, there was a girl in my class named Liat.
A wide body with a knockdown three? Those guys are very hard to come by.
Nunge......Sonogo......Crowl?
It seems Shaka prefers the lanky, athletic 6'9" ball handler.

Any Euro guys out there?
I would revisit Shaka's comments about last off-season and MU's pursuit of a big man.
Not going to find a guy that does both, but one or the other would be nice. Preferably a bigger body who can rebound and take up space.
Keep an eye on George Glass. Heard Shaka and staff met with him this past week

Jan Brady's imaginary boyfriend?
My wish for the off-season is player retention, continued player development, and good health.
If they retain their players, there's no need to look in the portal. The chemistry and continuity of the existing players will out-weigh any marginal talent upgrade. Any guy worth the talent upgrade will want a bag and that would come with its own risks.

And Scoopers' comments, too, as this was a recurring theme.
I'll repeat that I wouldn't mind the roster including a guy kinda like Jayce Johnson -- 7-footer, good rebounder, decent athlete, OK rim protector -- to play 5-10 mpg or as needed (Oso foul trouble, etc), grab a few boards and commit a couple hard fouls.
But I also get that not only aren't those easy to find, but to convince one to take such a minor role wouldn't be easy either. And maybe Shaka simply doesn't want that for his system.
In the end, all we really can do is trust Shaka's judgment on this stuff.
Well said, country roads.

Bingo. And Shaka has said they're not going to use NIL to pay for a big-time transfer so the best outcome is our guys coming back better and hungrier.

Also he should be able to dunk from the free throw line and be a lock down defender.
Should be easy enough to come by.

I have never heard Shaka comment on rebounding. Based upon his head coaching career, he doesn't really seem to value it as much as other coaches.
Has anyone heard Shaka directly respond to often having mediocre or sub-mediocre rebounding teams?
Develop Ben Gold. I think that's the plan.
No need to mock me, I just asked a simple question. I never said it would be easy peasy.
I'm thinking Gold has the potential
He already shoots the 3.

Would you prefer a transfer? Or a 5 star top 15 recruit?
I want Ben Gold to develop into Brook Lopez, Kolek to develop into Steve Nash, Oso to develop into Giannis, Kam to develop into Dame, Stevie to develop into Jrue, Oso to develop into Mikal Bridges, Chase to develop into Wade, Sean Jones to develop into Muggsy, Keeyan to develop into Blake Griffin, Emarion to develop into SGA, and Shaka to develop into Pop. I think it's reasonable, and if that happens I like our chances next year.

For help to arrive from outside, there will first have to be multiple departures. I would prefer continuity.

we chose truth over facts
My list is three things...
- A big that can back up Oso, but also play with him and step out to shoot from range.
- A change of pace point guard to give Tyler some rest.
- A combo guard/wing that can get his own shot & defend at a high level.
So by my estimation, Ben Gold with 15 pounds of muscle, a healthy Sean Jones, and improvement or impact from Chase Ross & Tre Norman is everything we need.
Kolek improve his floater. Stevie not be a zero on offense. Omax not trip over his own feet. Joplin learn how to dribble.
Fix those and we'll be in the F4.
Kam being much more consistent.
Oso being more assertive offensively, especially when matchup favors him.
OMax a vastly improved rebounder. He needs to give us much more in that area. Also shoot fewer threes.

Agree 100% with this. I'd only add continued development of everyone and that's kind of a Captain Obvious comment.
Open shooter shoots the 3.
I don't expect anyone to pass up open 3s in this offense.

Lack of confidence? No.
Indecisive? Yes.
I see Ben as trying to find what he should be doing at all times on the court. It hasn't come naturally yet.
He certainly has confidence shooting that open 3 and driving the lane to finish with either hand.

This is easily solved with the Ben Gold Decision Tree:
Open 3: Shoot
Not open: Drive and Dunk
Successful implementation of this decision tree will creat 12-15ppg for Mr. Gold next season.
