crap. Now I gotta buy tickets asap. People gonna wanna go now.
-
Brutal. Don’t think I can make it anymore.
-
Well that’s going to do some serious damage to the crowd numbers
-
I mentioned this in another thread, Arizona had all kinds of travel problems trying to get to Champaign tonight. Any team flying to the Midwest tonight had major problems getting in.
-
Also, game moved to FS2.
👎
-
That blows, but out of our control so whattayagonnado?
Hopefully UCLA arrives safely, obviously ... but it wouldn't break my heart if all this knocks them off their game a bit!
-
UCLA plane was forced to land in Denver due to mechanical issues. Due to the weather and widespread flight cancellations elsewhere, UCLA elected to spend the night in Denver and fly to Milwaukee in the morning. MU agreed to push the tip back late for Saturday night.
-
FS2 is the biggest bummer of the whole situation.
-
Ughhh. That blows
-
Hope this doesn't screw up our childcare plans. Guess we're lucky the Bucks aren't also playing tomorrow.
-

I think it really hurts the crowd potential. What a bummer.

We were bringing the kids tomorrow. 8:30 start makes that impossible…Should be a fun morning of Logistics 101
-
Since there's no football why couldn't the game be on Fox??
-
Boo
-
WN blows again, aina?
-
...and, we're out of coffee
-
This just sucks. Have my Christmas work party downtown tonight and was going to make a day of it. Looks like I will be listing my tickets for sale later today. Was really looking forward to the best non-conference game in many years. Understand the issue, but really ruins what was going to be a great day.
-
I think it really hurts the crowd potential. What a bummer.
Not ideal. But I expect a strong student section after a whole day of getting ready. Hopefully athletic dept does some sort of pizzas and stuff for students to keep energy high

It's winter break, no?
-
It's winter break, no?
Oof. If so, then this is very much not ideal.
-
It's winter break, no?
Pretty sure next week is Finals week. They wouldn't have sent MU to Kansas during Finals.
-
This could be advantageous. This really screws up any type of away game prep/process UCLA typically follows.
-

I think you are right. Hopefully this bodes well for students packing the FF.
But seriously, some outreach and maybe free tix for those studying in the libraries if they don't have season tix. Gotta pack it with students at a minimum
-

As long as they get out here at a reasonable time, that seems unlikely. They'll still be able to go through full walk-throughs and practice. Had we told them the 1:30 time was going as planned and they didn't land in Milwaukee until 10:30 am, I'd agree, but pushing it back seems to allow them full prep & process.

Flights seem to be on time now on the Denver to ord route, despite 30mph winds. I assume they likely won't have issues getting in from here on out.

Flying on game day isn't great though.
-
There just might be a whole new level of pre-gaming going on today.
-

Agree. I hope they're a but rusty given the layoff from playing and the delays now.
More importantly though, I hope our guys are ready to come out swinging and there's a loud arena tonight, despite the circumstances.
-

Why are they flying into ORD?
-
Why are they flying into ORD?
They aren't, but it was a route I knew had a few flights in the air already and used it to see if all the issues last night still were delaying flights to the area.
Although does look like some snow expected in mke, so who the hell knows.
-
Thank you for the update. At least the game is still on and that everyone is safe.
-
Also, game moved to FS2.
👎
At least we won’t get beat on national TV!
-
Feel for those who can’t make it now, but at least the game is still on.
Covid has conditioned us to be more flexible when it comes to sporting events, so this isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
-
I could be wrong, but wasn't it a couple of years ago, the game at Creighton had its time changed due to extreme cold.
I think we won that game.
-
Yeah I mean in the grand scheme of things it's minor. Sucks for the people like Lefty who had their plans altered. But it's no one's fault.
-

Given what has happened across the Midwest and mid-south over night, a college basketball game is a pretty small thing
-

FS2 is still a national network. ;)
-
Anyone that can’t make it, I’m looking for 4 tickets now. (I know the wrong spot to post this but whatever let’s get those tickets used so the place is packed).
Let me know if anyone is selling 4
-
I second that take, Rico.
Think of this the next time Gonzaga to the Big East comes up. Then think about flying to and from Spokane in snowstorm season.
-
Nm
-
Since there's no football why couldn't the game be on Fox??
Reality check.
Fox isn’t going to bump scheduled prime time programming for a relatively insignificant regular season college basketball game that has only minor regional interest.
-

WCC teams and PAC 12 teams fly in and out of Spokane 40 times a year in snowstorm season.
-

Yes. It was a reference to an old poster who only posted when we lost on National TV
-
Hope this doesn't screw up our childcare plans. Guess we're lucky the Bucks aren't also playing tomorrow.
I'm a little confused and at my age that is normal, but just to be clear the game is now Saturday night at 8:30/9:30 CT/ET on FS2, not tomorrow (Sunday).
-

Correct. It was announced late Friday which is why you might see "tomorrow" some places.
-

Exactly. Thank you
-
Hope we can get lots of fans there still.
Honestly, mostly hoping this is still a big draw for students first and foremost--they've been huge when it comes to energy.

Got a buddy that works at DEN, took this shot of UCLA’s plane.

-
Don’t teams usually leave early so this doesn’t happen and players can get settled in? Leaving the night before an afternoon game seems like an awful idea.

FS2 is the biggest bummer of the whole situation.
Sure is. Many providers do not carry it. Some nice national exposure on Fox went out the window.
-

It could be because UCLA had finals last week.
-
The time change fxxked up my day, but going to make it work. Due to the hassle caused I’m going to have additional pregame cocktails tonight. This is a game I have waited a long time for and hope we can steal one.
-
Hopefully somehow we still get a packed and electric crowd and they're flat as a pancake.
-
Sources say the crew has everything ready to go in the airplane.

We have clearance, Clarence. ... Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor? ... Tower Radio, clearance, over. ... That's 'Clarence Oveur', over.
-
Hoping we hit some shots early to get the energy flowing and it just snowballs from there. Could be an epic win for MU that no-one will see but scoop will know!

Fixed the thread title (since it was started yesterday).

I think they left at 2 PST yesterday. This is their flight today. https://jettip.net/airport/kmke/70571428

I have two extra lower level seats for tonight. If anyone is interested send me PM.
-
As a non-cable subscriber, FS2 is definitely a huge disappointment.
-
There just might be a whole new level of pre-gaming going on today.
Even from afar I was planning on easing into a few drinks during the game, and then watch hoops for the rest of the day. If I still start early I might not be functional by the MU game.
The crowd in attendance should be LIT though!

Surely, you're not serious?
-
What is everyone's guess on the attendance tonight? Still packed, or possibly fewer due to time change?
-
Still packed for sure. Tickets are selling.
There were over 700 tickets at 6pm yesterday on stubhub.
Now at 300

Woulda bet anythin' UCLA wuz located in LA, aina?

Tonight’s televised game can be seen on Sling,Hulu, Fubo, and YTTV.
Each of these services offer a free trial.
Get the service…..watch the game…..cancel the service.
It should be noted that you only get the free trial one time……so if you did this same thing last year…..no luck this year.

There just might be a whole new level of pre-gaming going on today.
My pre-gaming will now start promptly at 4:00 pm from a barstool at Who's on Third, while watching about 3 other college basketball games on TV. I'll damn well be doing my part to get ready for an 8:30 pm tipoff.
Ask not what your team can do for you. Ask what you can do for your team.
-
FWIW, if you use the MU Hoops calendar via Google Calendar, it has now been updated to reflect the new game time.

I will be starting early as well.

Same. I’ll be at who’s likely as well.
Starting at 2pm CST.
But I also just finished a mimosa with the lady friend. So I might as well keep’er goin!
Goose: glad to see you’re headed to the game boss hoss.

This blows. Plans tonight.

UCLA just landed in Milwaukee. Issue with their original flight was a crack in the cockpit windshield.

Do we have an over/under on the number of times the announcers will refer to UCLA only arriving in Milwaukee 10 hours before tip off? 27? I’m not downplaying the difficulty for them, but I’m sure it will be the only thing the announcers talk about, especially if MU some how keeps it close
-
Nice of MU to accommodate UCLA and inconvenience/alter the schedules of arena workers, MU fans, nearby bars/restaurants.
Wonder what would have happened if the Bucks had Fiserv tonight. My guess UCLA would have gotten to MKE for the 1:30 tip.
Hopefully Scholl angled for another home and home with UCLA due to the accommodation.

They could have just cancelled.
-
They could have just cancelled.
Right. Or played tomorrow, which would have been more inconvenient for everyone.
It sucks. But thankfully people are safe and the game goes on.
-
They could have just cancelled.
Most likely scenario.
-
They could have just cancelled.
Cancelled. UCLA should have forfeited.

A forfeit can't be recorded when there is a "breakdown of vehicles." It would have just been declared a "no contest."

They could have just cancelled.
True. Doesn't mean you don't leverage the inconvenience to negotiate for another home and home. That aside if they did cancel they would still owe MU the return game of the original home and home contract.

Or you can just be flexible, figure it out and move on. Why use this as “leverage?”

MU Basketball is essentially a business. When is the last time MU got a home and home with a blue blood program?
It's not some kind of dick move to ask for something in return for the inconvenience this reschedule causes on the MU/MKE end.

It’s not an inconvenience worthy of another buy game. Otherwise they would have just gone home and scheduled it in some future year.
-
Just said “screw it, we’re going”, and bought two decent seats at a pretty good value for tonight. First game for me at Fiserv, first MU game for my son that he’ll remember. Fired up!

Got some lower bowl tix at a great price. First game we will be seeing in person since the start of the pandemic. Let's do this!

Didn’t we play them in an empty gym last year? That cancels out this “inconvenience” on MU’s end, imo.

Marquette played a rare 8:30pm Saturday night game on Dec 7, 2008.
Wisconsin couldn't stop Jerel McNeal, who scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half to power Marquette to a 61-58 comeback victory.

My statement was in jest, but it is kind of crazy that there is an official rule regarding this.

I said negotiate for another home and home..not a buy game. Not a huge ask. But I guess some mindsets feel asking is offensive, LOL.
-

The NCAA is on top of it. Proud institution.
-
how often is fiserv not booked on saturday night in winter
-
Attendance will be fine. Capitalism is a beautiful thing. TV ratings might be ok too. Not up against Army-Navy. Hopefully UCLA arrived safe, albeit a turbulent ride in. Hammer ‘em.
-
At least it didn’t get cancelled or moved to the Al. Wouldn’t want to be in the Athletics office if the biggest non-conference game was changed to a venue quarter of the size and possibly no TV.
For a one in a million type of occurrence, I’d say the solution is about as good as you can hope for.
-
TV ratings will be terrible on FS2.

…Saturday afternoon during shopping season and against Army-Navy? TV ratings would have been a dog!
The ratings on FOX will always be light years better than FS2. Rating would have gotten around 800k on FOX. FOX had a solid triple header with Syracuse/Georgetown & Arizona/Illinois. That will not be the case tonight.
-
Man, some good hoops on, but this is a LONG gameday compared to my expectations for the day!

Tonight's #mubb vs No. 4 UCLA game will begin on FS2 but will move over to FS1 at halftime after Cincinnati-Xavier finishes up. So if you are either a Bruins or Golden Eagles fan you are hoping for no OT at the Cintas Center.
