I really would have liked my final memory of Theo to be his monster dunk against Xavier. Not him taking the ace wrap and ice packs off his knees like he was 40 years old.
Feel like they should have shot more off the catch rather than shot fake, dribble, give it up.
Liked DJs blocks and Jamal's energy. Other than that, ick.
Still nothing about Wojo. Unreal. Does he pay you?

I was very optimistic heading into the game. I thought Marquette's draw gave them a legitimate shot to make the Semis. Just a complete ass kicking though. It's usually how the year ends under Wojo.
I think MU might have even played themselves out of CBI contention today.
Sayanora until this sad dack gets the sack. Total unacceptable coaching performance.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, and more turnovers. And shitty shooting.
Can't say we didn't go out spectacularly. No close loss here!
Goodbye and good luck to Theo, Jamal and Koby.
I am convinced now Goodbye and good luck to Dexter and probably Perez.
Better welcome transfer portal stars who don't throw the ball away 17 times a game or welcome a new coach or new assistant coaches that get in the player's faces for mistakes. MU now noted more for than turnover rate than basketball skills. Terrible year.

Shame you feel that way about a guy that has been anything but soft for MU. He is banged up, and has given it his all for four years.. He played all last year with a broken wrist for God's sake. Says a lot about you.
Did they team quit on Wojo today?
And, if so, why wait until today?
2 out of 7 years under .500
Sad.
He has been the wrong guy for several years and hopefully the school does the right thing. He has been a deer in headlights since the start and nothing changed. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for chasing (and landing a couple) of big time recruits and I stick to that. I also believe their never was a system put into place and that led to his downfall. If he had a system there is no need for major overhauls every year, you put new guys into previous guys roles. The only hint of system was having a chucker for six of the seven years and this year he missed the chucker.
This is the first time I thought it really showed that the team quit on Wojo, or he quit on them.
Anyone just watch the postgame? Lavin and Donny Marshall say Wojo and staff need to do some soul searching. They went on to say that, despite COVID, they don't have any "more" of an excuse than any other team in the country. Finally said the team has not had a true "identity" the last three years.

For sure on Dex.
Curious about Perez - he's been playing a bit, and reportedly was going to sit out but said he'd do whatever to help the team.
I'll all get figured out in the next couple weeks.
Well, the season could not have ended with a bigger thud. Everything about the program - the coaching, the players, the practicing outside this morning like we are filming a scene for He Got Game - today was, simply, awful. The program could not have looked less interested and/or ready to play in a Big East Tournament game. Announcers saw it. The fans saw it. Everyone saw it - and not having fans there is even worse. Very unfortunate to the fans, alumni and strong supporters of the program that continue to back and root for this team, despite the groin punches we regularly receive.
The administration - Scholl, Lovell and BOT - have to take a real hard serious look in the mirror and legitimately review where we stand and how many changes are needed to help right this once proud basketball program. As a leading Jesuit institution, it should be incredibly frustrating to watch programs like Gonzaga, Loyola, Creighton and Xavier all compete for top-25 rankings and tournament bids annually. As a self-proclaimed leading Jesuit institution, why is Marquette once again embarrassed in March with nothing to show for it?
IMO, MUBB is now officially and undeniably at its lowest point in decades. Sad day.

There's no way all three of Carton, Lewis, and Garcia are back next year. John, Cain, Elliott represent approximately 50% of team productivity this year on both ends of the floor.

Theo told fans who didn't agree with him politically to basically go f*** themselves and not root for the team. Nobody owes him a thing.
Oh, but he'd get the occasional monster dunk or block and then make a show of flexing his muscles and screaming.
But in a close game when you needed the big defensive rebound, tough Theo would be 10 ft from the basket looking lost.

OK, I'm not going to criticize the team. They are what they are -- 18-23 year old men who gave what they could give.
It wasn't even close to being enough this year.
We have big problems and big opportunities if we can find the right parts to put together into a competitive and aggressive whole. The problem we've had for eight years now is that many of the parts were there but they never fit together in a way that works. That's on Buzz for his last year and Wojo for the seven years he has been with us.
The question now has to be asked is, if Wojo stays, how will next year be different. Again, good pieces coming but can they be molded into a winning basketball team? The track record isn't good.
If we start over, will our new Coach's Powerpoint show a fast rise and get us back to the promised land? Depends on who we hire and how much of what we need to keep, we keep.
I'm not excited for the next few years. Looks like my winters will be spent praying for better days.

Today the better team and, the coach who had his team prepared, won.
So now we go to the long off season, with that final record of 13-14 on the MU Scoop screen to look at every day .
Jae, Jimmy and Juan are doing good things so that will have to do in terms of MU rooting. Maybe Henry can do something in his 10 day contract , Wes can get more minutes, Markus can make a shot and Sacar or Rowsey get something good out of the G League.

Ya I don't know the backstory at all. Just seemed like the post was a little hot.
I could not care less about Theo's political/social beliefs and respect his right to voice them openly. I do care that he was out of position on D for four years and could not get five rebounds in a pickup game.

I posted something about Glow and Chick and somehow that equates to me being a Wojo fan?
Also, sick burn with the female analogy. You're either 12 or chronically single.
You can do much better than that...unless your reasoning has been clouded by excessive quantities of malted hops and bong resin.

So, someone asked a question. Seems like Theo answered. And now people are triggered by it. If you don't want an answer, don't ask the question.
Theo should not have responded to the "who cares" post on Twitter. He should not have told a Marquette fan to STFU. What that fan said was completely innocuous. Theo was in the wrong. There's no other way to spin it.

It's not like Theo just came out and said those things unsolicited. Why is it okay for keyboard warriors like you to give Theo crap, but not for Theo to give it back? Not at all surprised you can dish but cannot take.
I'm a big Theo John fan but a bit of respect for the alumni and supporters of the program that have been around for more than four years would be appreciated. A lot of players come and go but the season ticket holders and alumni who donate to the athletics program and fly in for games every year to support our program get a voice.

I realize it was out there for the world to see, but he was responding to one person in particular. It's wasn't a particularly great life choice, but also not something that will effect Theo beyond the 1000 of us or so that keep tabs on these things.

This, exactly. Athletes at big time college programs and on professional teams should be above engaging with troll fans on social media. There is -never- a good result when it happens. If the athlete isn't aware that they should be above this, the team should make it very clear they are not to engage with angry fans on social media. In fact, I'm almost positive players these days are educated on the dos and don'ts of social media.
Theo, as a senior leader, should've absolutely known this, and set an example for his younger teammates. No one was triggered. It was just a bad look.
If I was head coach, I'd be sure to have a strict social media policy.
But you know, that would be way to rational for the neanderthal we currently employ to have thought of in the last seven years.

Which was either the comment he thinks Theo is soft and not as tough as everyone says he is or that he didn't like being told to F off and not cheer for the team if they don't like his/the teams activism.
Either one doesn't seem like a fair reason to characterize someone you never met as disgusting.

I'm in the "don't honor someone who commits violence against women" camp.
When the east coast Big East schools come to Milwaukee the refs call a tight game.
When Marquette goes to MSG the refs let the fur fly.
The only winning way is methodical, slow paced, spread offence with outstanding 3 point shooting. Or recruit some very big, agressive players.
NYC wants to see blood on the floor.
Bill Raftery, and coach Lavin are perfect examples of the Big East image as a "tough" league. They live in the old Big East as they once knew it.
Wojo is no fool. He knows that to win at MSG his teams have to play much more aggressively.
These days they play faster than they can manage, (turnovers), but can't play tough enough because that is not who they are. It is what it is, get used to it.
