What on earth was in Koby's water?
Another easy one.
Koby.
Lock it in and let's move on to UCLA
Markus who?
Just kidding.
Koby was great.
Koby with a call out to Dawson and theo
No brainer. Kob.
Leading scorer.
Another no-brainer.
Classy kid. Hope he has many more games like this.
Kobe with an "E" tonight.
.76 PPM
Koby. Good night. He let the game come to him.
Koby was great - did a nice interview with Lavin afterwards, too.
Nobody else was better than "fair".
Koby. Has adjusted nicely. A LOT more confident and in control this year
Koby was interviewed on FS1 after the game. Seems like a really nice kid.
Good for Koby. He needed this.
It's great to see so many people have great games early. No one stand out is good. That's gotta give all the players confidence.
Koby. Really liked his interview.
Thought early on it might be Dawson again, but Koby carried them tonight. Solid night for Theo.

My thoughts exactly
Early on looked like Dawson, but Koby just took over in the second half when Green Bay made their pushes. Every time they took a punch, Koby had the counter-punch.
I thought Koby has been good the last two games. Picked his spots tonight and took over and also played within himself against UW.
Koby has had a solid season, and there obviously is no other possibility for SOTG here.
Koby for not only the points but the 4 dimes and 0 turnovers.
The Koby we are getting this season is the one I thought we would get last season.

Yep. I think Koby has been real solid so far.

I am reminded of how we have often maligned transfers that didn't fit in right away. Guys like Luke Fischer, that are immediate impact transfers, seem rare here. Most are like Reinhardt, Carlino, or Lockett, where it takes a month or two before they start to contribute consistently. I think that allowed for longer leashes initially for guys like Chartouny and McEwen, but when neither really produced in the back half, we just assumed they wouldn't work out. Maybe Koby just needed longer to make that adjustment.
Thinking about those long transitions also gives me hope that DJ Carton, who has certainly shown flashes but hasn't been the immediate every night impact player we hoped for, will be rounding into full form in the next month or so.
Koby played great. He looks like an NBA guard.

I don't know about that. He's a good college player but would be pretty run of the mill in the NBA. Not terribly quick. Not much of a handle. Would need to become a more consistent scorer.

Sounds like Dwight Buycks.
That would be his ceiling IMO.

That could be his ceiling, but I feel like he's further along as a collegian than Dwight ever was when he was here. Dwight always played a bit reckless, like he was still on the playground.
As far as the NBA, the key for Dwight was embracing that he had to become a PG and spending time in Europe honing those skills. Koby would likely have to go through a similar improvement when it comes to his distribution.

I meant his ceiling as an NBA player but yeah I agree with you completely
Koby McEwen
Koby. Looked great, the team can use more of that guy.
I told my wife when I realized that he looked comfortable and in control out there that this could be one of the 3/4 games this year that he plays great, and then just reverts back to same ol Koby for the rest of em.
I really hope he proves me wrong. It would be really good for this years team if he was a steady good presence and took on that bulldog senior leadership role with Theo.
To his credit, Koby almost always plays good defense and rebounds well. He always looks like he's putting in max effort and wants to win badly. When his shot is on and he's playing composed and doesn't look to be in his head he can be very good, we got that last night.
Im honestly not sure which way his season will go- I'd still wager that we get more of the 3/4 good games Koby than the surprisingly good senior season version. That said, if we could get the 3-4 last night type game Koby in combination with the steady, plays within himself and towards his strengths Koby for two thirds of the conference games Id take it in a heartbeat.

Buycks was always quick, but I think his handle really improved overseas. He was a bit reckless here but got his cup of coffee in the NBA and has been one of the best TBT players because of that development after he left Marquette.
Koby looked refreshed.
Still haven't seen him do the half court pass 2 feet too high into the stands yet this year. That's a good feeling.

Koby looked like he didn't get too tilted all game.
His challenges seem to be mental, not physical. If he can keep a cooler head, or if he can channel his frustration into competitive drive, he will be great.

Buycks senior year his turnover rate was 26%. If that is your definition of "good handle" I see visions of Louisville dancing in my head.
Koby's senior year so far he has a 15% turnover rate.

Was just about to bring that up about Buycks at Ville
This SOTG choice is so obvious that I expect somebody to nominate Matt Heldt.

Non-passive PGs (or forwards) are going to turn the ball over.
Prime cut of Koby beef.

I guess Travis (15.6% senior year) and Dom (15.9%) were non-passive, then.

when he didn't get the foul call on the bank-in 3 I thought "whelp, that's going to do him in" based on his body language. Last year it would've hopefully you are correct and he's learned to use it to fuel the competitiveness.

Context matters though. In their 1st year in the program, Markus turned the ball over more in fewer minutes per game.
Dwight only played 2years. Comparing that to stats of guys in their 3rd and 4th years isn't quite the same.

Dwight was 22 years old his playing his senior season. Not sure it makes more sense to compare that to a 17 year old freshman Markus than it does to compare a 21 year old senior Markus.

Plus, Buycks played four years of college too, under two systems just as Koby did. All numbers are from senior year, the season NBA scouts are deep into evaluations.

Bingo.
That's my point. You can't just make straight player-to-player evaluations.

Me too, none louder than after the Louisville game.
I was stunned when I heard he had signed a 10-day contract with an NBA team, and then again when he actually was able to stick on a roster. But it shows that guys do improve. I mean, look at Juan. I doubt there is a single Scooper who thought he'd ever play 1 second of NBA ball.
