As you all remember, I broke the Vander news in 2013, much to Scoop's raucous calls of Bullsnit.
Well, I'm back again and i have news. Bad news for us scoopers:
Markus is gone to the draft.
Whether it's a good idea or bad idea, we've seen the last of Markus in Blue and Gold.

But I thought he had a huge fight with Stan at the Al, while Wojo was at VT campus negotiating his contract there, while getting his family flown in from Gary. These off-season speculations that have no merit whatsoever are truly amusing. Lets get to work.
* cue all the posters who will now criticize Markus for not even testing the waters...

I'll be honest, I think he should have if only to get an assessment of what to focus on to get there next year, but the end result is what I was hoping for anyway, so rock and roll.
That is good news, bring it kid!
Markus will obliterate the all time MU scoring record next season. Don't be afraid to go strong on the schedule, KSU/Wisco/Orlando are all fine, but get a big Gavitt game at home and don't be afraid to start a home/home with someone decent. Solidify the roster over the next month either with Symir reclassifying or a grad transfer, and let's move on from last year and eff'n get after it for next year.
Unfinished business indeed, let's go!

Happy to have him back. He's got a lot of responsibility riding on his shoulders. I'm confident he's up to the task.
I think this team will play like their hair is on fire next season!!!
Lets. F*cking. Go.

Actually he doesn't. He is surrounded by one of the most talented MU teams of the last 30 years. He's in a great spot. And so is MU. This is fantastic.
Incredible news. Success breeds success and this is the shot in the arm the team needs to make a serious run next year.

realWRK must answer for this!!!!
This is a huge break for the program from an exposure standpoint. With a superstar like Markus, MU will be in the spotlight all year. Sportscenter highlights, stories in major publications, the whole thing. I'm good with upping the hubris to 11.

Yep, should be pre-season top 10, romp through non-con, favorite to win conference
I can only hope we respond to our late season collapse, as UVA did this season.
Focus, urgency and determination!!!
Now let's get that 2020 recruiting class to keep the Wojo mojo going.

This is very true. Though I hope Markus doesn't get all the attention. This may seem silly, but it always seemed weird to me that Wojo was saying "the strength of our team is the team" but then all the media focused on was Markus. MU has limited control over that, but I hope they find a way to highlight other members of the team as well.

Hopefully Wojo will use Koby effectively and have him distribute the scoring across the team. Happy to see Marcus back but team work will determine our success.
If Koby is as good as advertised and can handle the ball really well, as well as Greg improving on that and being healthy, and if Symir comes in, this team should be absolutely DEADLY.
Glad to hear Markus is back next year - we are stronger with him on the roster.
Koby is the real deal. Kid tore up the mountain west, and that is not a bad bball conference. He will make Howard's life much easier. Onwards and upwards.

Marcus will surpass
Dwyane Wade and JFB

Booking my ticket for the BET in NYC now....
Thank you Markus. We look forward to seeing your indomitable force this fall. Please get healthy and stay that way.
Now that you are coming back, let's talk about your legacy. We know you're going to be the greatest Warrior scorer of all time. Heck, you're almost that now. You'll be known as a tremendous teammate, strong student and probably as good a person as ever who represented Marquette.
But you have to ask, what do you want your legacy to be? Butch and Bo, Dwyane and Maurice created their legacy not just because they were good, but because they made their teammates good too. All four elevated our program to the heights of college basketball. Butch and Bo won a national title. Maurice helped get us to the national championship game and Dwyane got us to the Final Four.
If you believe our press clippings lately (and I'm hopeful but skeptical), we should be one of the best teams in college basketball. You've probably read the same thing all of us Scoopers have. After we stop smiling wide, we think of one thing — Murray State. That can't happen again. Ever. We know you have some unfinished business (besides your degree) and we're hopeful that you and the guys play with a nasty-ass chip on your shoulders.
Kick-ass this fall and winter and set expectations high. There's a lot of us out here who are old farts and remember what it was like to win it all. We want that feeling again and we want it for the current crop of Warriors.

This scares me a little.
Then again, so do spiders, heights, and leprechauns. And aliens and ghosts. Chinese buffets and porcelain dolls. Ninjas in my bedroom. Haiku poetry and "a'ina." Getting dunked on by Ners. Brooks Koepka in a purple thong pre weird weight loss, but admittedly it also excites me. Knock off cereals that come in large bags like Fruit Rings, the Trevor Mbakwe thread, Tom Crean's Tan, Jason Derulo, adults dressed in costumes, and so on and so forth.
Unfinished business is accurate and I admire the hell out of Markus for coming back to handle biz.

ESPN is scrolling the announcement during its Masters coverage!
Markus is a highly intelligent young man. He didn't need to spend a lot of time at combines to get "feedback." He already knows exactly where he stands with the pros.
He also seems to like college, including his presence as the student rep on a prestigious national council.
And he's right about unfinished business, and his chance to make a real mark on the program.
Here's to our Warriors doing at least as well after a loss to a 12-seed with our star coming back as we did 16 years ago!
It is awesome that such a fine young man is sticking around. Giddyup, &!%#+!%$+!% ers.
Things just got really serious. Amazing news. He will cement his place as one of our all-time greats.
Now the next question that needs to be answered is will the Hausers be back? I mean, according to the very well connected meat summit bros, the Hauser parents dislike Wojo so much that they had no problem with their second child going to play for him after their oldest had already spent two years in the program giving them feedback about what a terrible coach he is.

Hilarious that he won't provide any details on it though. He needs to "protect his source," despite coming on MUScoop and reporting that the Hauser parents don't like Wojo. Lol. And then when people call him out his meat summit brothers come to his aid and say that nobody can provide evidence to disprove Keefer. So Keefer, providing absolutely no evidence himself, is right!
Nothing big, but nice seeing the buzz.

More importantly now is how Wojo coaches this team. MU has added 2 players that both have experience, one was a starter that averaged 15 a game.
Lets see how he uses those 2 kids as I can see Koby, Howard, Sacar, one of the Hausers and John a lot. Now if Joey can really show improvement with his
lateral quickness and muscle, they will be really good next year. Now it will be interesting if Jamal can show some improvement, as he is the most athletic player
on the team. Lot to look forward too. Wojo should have no excuses and no more 5 minute scoring droughts!

Do with this what you will. M2N
Fair post. Perhaps Markus got the feedback that he wouldn't be drafted. Maybe he called Vander and Vander set him straight.
FWIW, there are rumblings the Hausers were hoping be was gone. And now that Markus is coming back.........
Just stop with the BS dude......

You are so full of sh*t. You said Markus was for sure gone to the draft...He wasn't, and he didn't even get feedback, at least not officially. Now you're saying there are rumblings that Markus's best friends on the team were hoping he would go...and possibly derail their chance of an incredible season?? Yeah...okay.
And for the record, you may have "broke" the Vander news here on this board, but there were other people that had the info well before you "broke" it here.
Simply sharing the info as it comes to me.
What if Markus and Sam AREN'T BFF's? How well does Wojo manage egos? How much trust does he have? At this level most kids can play, but their belief is they are 'the best, Option 1A'. Parents of those kids believe it even more. How does Wojo handle and manage all those strong personalities?

Sam and Joey should transfer if Markus returning would make them miserable. Hundreds upon hundreds of coaches would be thrilled to get either or both. Life's too short to be miserable.
Or they should be mature about it and figure out a way to work through their differences. They're going to have teammates they have issues with their entire basketball careers
"rumblings" = some are saying=the experts say=the word is=
come on tim maymon...let it go and move on
I don't think it is completely baseless. He's not the first to suggest it even today.
But I doubt anything comes of it.

Look man, I don't post often. I pretty much post for 3 reasons:
1. Ask a question
2. Correct someone spelling Markus "Marcus"
3. Share info I receive from people I consider decent sources
I'm happy the people telling me Markus was leaving were wrong. Beyond thrilled. I don't think it's a coincidence I'm hearing about unhappy Hausers just days after Markus announced he's coming back. Maybe Markus changed his mind? Or got feedback, outside of the official feedback thing, that he wouldn't be drafted, or would be in the G League, or whatever, I don't know what happened.
I get a lot of info from you all on here so I try to share when I can. Think of me what you will but I'm not trying to stir the pot nor am I pulling this crap out of my ass.
I hope nothing comes of it. Markus coming back with both Hausers gives us the best chance to win next year.
For the sake of argument though, would you rather have both Hausers and no Markus, or Markus and no Hausers? Think I'd take the brothers.
Ignore it REAL. Typical, "I don't like the message so I'll attack the messenger" responses
Joey will be a lot better next year, Sam as good, Markus better if he buys into a more team game. Add Koby, and it will be Wojo's job to make them play like a team. I can see Joey playing some center next year and opening up the middle. That's if Wojo decides to re-do the offense a little bit.

I think there are a lot of dynamics with the three. Joe wears his emotions on his sleeve and I've seen him react to certain things that have happened on the floor. If anyone goes it would be Joe.
I also think REAL is correct. Losing amplifies problems and Wojo needs to make sure everyone is on the same page. If not, people are going to get upset and one or more may move on...such is life. I'd like to see all three coexist but it's his job to make sure it happens.

LOL mmmk...cuz Sam's gonna transfer his Senior year and sit out a year?? Rrrrrrrrriiiiiiight.
FWIW Mrs. Gato and I spoke with Dave and Stephanie Hauser at the banquet. We rehashed certain aspects of the season. They seemed pretty happy to me. I will say this: the basketball and athletics administrations do not understand where a lot of this crap comes from. A single day player frustration turns into a transfer. Remember when Travis Diener was so mad at Crean he called his dad to pick him up because he was transferring? His dad came and cooler heads prevail. People aren't happy 100% of the time but please, use some judgement.

As to why? Maybe they don't like the fact that Markus dominates the ball so much. Maybe they're concerned that with Koby coming on the scene next year they'll see it even less. It has certainly been widely reported here that the entire Hauser family had problems with another guard they thought was a little selfish. I can say with good authority that the athletics people see this stuff and shake their heads. What to them is particularly befuddling are attacks on 18 to 22 year old young men who work exceptionally hard and are expected to be perfect representatives of the university. Yet, they get trashed by alums of that university here and on other social media by those who feel entitled to do it.

How is passing on the speculation that the Hausers are unhappy considered "bashing the team and players".

For the sake of argument, this doesn't matter.
Because Markus IS coming back, so one of your two options is not in play and therefore totally irrelevant.
Again, if playing another year with Markus will make the Hausers miserable, and the situation is irreconcilable, they should go. I am 100% serious. I don't want them to leave, and I like what another poster said about them hopefully working things out (which is why I added the irreconcilable clause above), but it's not as if the Hausers don't have options.
If I were the source of all the "inside info" spat out in this post, and if I had offered that info in confidence, I wouldn't be thrilled that it was being shared on an interwebs site populated by anonymous strangers.

Very glad Markus is back. Now his goal needs to be 10 assists per game. I don't care how much he scores, it will come naturally. There's a chance this team can have 4 guys at 15ppg or higher... but only if Markus has 10 assists per game.
I think we all saw what that looks like in our last game of the season, and other than the fact that it was the other team, it was pretty to watch.
Markus has made major improvements to his game each season. Passing and court vision will make the puzzle complete.
Maybe the hausers are just pissed because MU repeatedly got their ass handed to them since mid February? Is this whole thing based on the fact that Markus took that shot at the end of a half and sam was animated about it lol?

Because of the exaggerated impact a discussion like this actually has on them. I'm all for protecting these kids, and if this rumor was about some crime they may have committed or we were bashing their play then I'd agree. That's the time to remember they're human and young adults at that.

All I said is that they are human beings. If you are uncomfortable with that, maybe you know that if you were in their place, you would hate people spreading rumors, posting them on the internet for strangers, and people baselessly speculating that you were going to quit the team because of a private frustration between teammates.

This speculation is pretty baseless. Could Sam and Joey be frustrated with how the season ended with Markus? Sure. But think about your life, family, co-workers, etc. Are you frustrated by them at times? No doubt. But does that mean you are unhappy and want those people gone? Doubtful.
This is the problem with rumors. They may be based on something, but it is often something small and inconsequential. And maybe the OP needs to understand that when he comes here and declares that Markus is gone, but then he isn't. And now he just decided to do the same thing again.

You might be a better person than I. I can think of plenty of times at past jobs when I vented privately about a coworker or supervisor and would have been extremely embarrassed if those comments were blasted on the internet. Some of them were minor and likely wouldn't have impacted the team at all, others would have caused serious disruptions to our ability to work together for a time. Maybe nothing bad comes out of it, but certainly nothing good could have come of it.

I am not one to censor Scoop because an athlete or his family might be lurking here.
As Obi-Wan famously said of Scoop and other interwebs fan sites: "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."
In an ideal world, nobody would ever criticize an athlete. But this isn't an ideal world, it's an interwebs fan site. So if Magic Dawson gets criticized and Mr. Dawson is hanging out here to see it, sorry but that's on Mr. Dawson. And if getting a little criticism on a fan site leads an athlete to go elsewhere, he wasn't mentally tough enough to be a Warrior anyway. (Note: I am NOT saying that's why Magic left.)
Having said that, those who rip 18-22 year olds who are working their butts off for their school because they don't like the way those young men play basketball, well, it reveals the character of the ripper more than anything else IMHO. (Of course, there is a fine line between "ripping" and merely stating fact-based opinions. Was saying that the Derrick/Jake combo was the worst backcourt in modern MU history a rip on those guys personally? Or was it a rip on Buzz for being unable to field a better backcourt?)
I don't believe that starting/spreading rumors is necessarily in the same category. It doesn't "harm" Sam and Joey to share rumors that they might be p-o-ed at Markus. Some folks might be titillated by those kinds of rumors -- in fact, some have come out and stated they are -- while others (like me) just roll their eyes at them.
For one thing, I agree that the original rumor-mongers might have an ulterior motive. For another, unattributed rumors spread by anonymous interwebs people don't carry a lot of weight in the Legitimacy Dept. (See: Bad news for us scoopers: Markus is gone to the draft. Whether it's a good idea or bad idea, we've seen the last of Markus in Blue and Gold. See also: #donedeal.)
BTW, a source (goes by "badgernutgrabber") tells me that Joey is carrying Sam's love child. He's the guy who was spot on that a douchenozzle was gonna grab Joey's nuts, so I'm sure this must be true, too!

yes. of course my source is my dalmation who speaks to me when 1. he wants out, 2. when he thinks he needs more food, or 3. when bad news breaks concerning MU basketball

You sure about that? Also, who's to say this is about the Hausers/Howard dynamic?

Not anymore.

Because I thought that's what the original topic was about.

They are better teammates than that.
You must be an insider. Good call.

How do you know, oh fluffy one?
As to why? Maybe they don't like the fact that Markus dominates the ball so much. Maybe they're concerned that with Koby coming on the scene next year they'll see it even less. It has certainly been widely reported here that the entire Hauser family had problems with another guard they thought was a little selfish. Believe me, I hope (and also think) everyone returns and it's all seashells and balloons next seasons. That said, I'm not going to trash people for bringing news I'd rather not hear to Scoop.
Bump
Sam Hauser liked a tweet about Tony Bennett last week, but did not like a tweet about Markus Howard returning. Nice teammate. #Selfish
Marquette will be fine.
We don't need guys that don't understand their roles.
MH is the returning All-American. He is the primary option and every coach in the country would feel the same.
Ultimate selfish act is for two starters to leave a Top 5 team in their home state.

Markus lead us to the promise land 🙏

Good one considering I have about as accurate a track record here pulling stuff out of my ass as you do with your "sources."
