Excuse me?? Find one post where I said this team was trash..if you find that, I will never post here again..that's a promise. If i said that EXACT word, show me...You have taken great joy in this 5 out of 6 slide?? You think they have played well?? You mad about it?? You talk like a 5 seed should be something to celebrate...you do realize that just TWO weeks ago, they were SOLIDLY on the 3 line, and in contention for a two seed, right?? Stop and think about how MONUMENTAL their collapse has been in TWO weeks to fall 2-3 seed lines in that short of a time span. Think about that. Good, they are in the tournament..it's what you do once you get there.
Find me another instance in the last 5-10 years where a team needed to win ONE game out of four..(with two being at home) to clinch a title..and couldn't/didn't do it. Put that in perspective just how monumental this collapse has been. Doesn't someone NEED to answer for that?? The Head Coach repeatedly states "it's on me". So why is this slide continuing, if it's on him?? Shouldn't he have fixed it by now?? Or...doesn't he know how?? If he doesn't know how, should he keep his job?
Sorry. You likely never said trash. Sorry.
Also, never once have I said I was happy or taken joy with the slide.

5 seed vs. winner of a Dayton playoff game.
Lots of bid stealers on the 12 line, per Bracket Matrix. They can't go to Dayton. I think the play-ins will both be 11s.
Which I'm honestly ok with. We'll probably be a 5 or 6. If we're a 5, we draw a team that got hot last week (Oregon, for ex) that hasn't done much all season. If we're a 6, there's a good chance we get a meh high major team that will have less time to scout us and rest up after playing Dayton.
I'll go with 6, in Hartford, vs the winner of Temple and Arizona St

Agreed, unless they move a play-in down a line for bracketing purposes. I now have autobids all the way to the 11-line (Oregon is the last 11) & 3 teams on the 10-line are "first four byes." At least no more bids can be stolen (I already have St Louis penciled in).

Duke isn't going to Des Moines. Why do you think the NCAA always has a first round site in N or S Carolina?
6 seed. Don't see how site can be any more than a random guess? Also pretty random on opponent, but let's say ASU. Play somewhere in the south.

You can eliminate Columbus and Columbia as those two sites will be hosting the four 1-pods. Des Moines can also probably be eliminated as a site for two 2-pods.
5 seeds play in the 4-pod, 6 seeds in the 3-pod.
So still random, but not a 1 in 8 guess by any stretch.

Yeah I have to imagine the committee has SLU and St Bona pencilled in to the same spot. They're not going to upset the bracket in the final hours by making a contingency plan for whoever wins that game.
Same probably true for the Ivy winner.
Michigan-MSU probably doesn't matter for seeding. They'll both be 2s.
I don't think Auburn will slide up a line from 5 with a win, but I guess they could flip places with a 4 in their bracket. Same with Tennessee. The 1s are set.
Cincinnati with a win could move from 7 to 6. I think that's maybe the only game with real bracket implications (and it could affect us, so go Houston).

I think you're right about the IVY game and the SLU game but I highly doubt that the committee messes up the bracket with the remaining games. In other words, I think they're pretty meaningless.

I would sign up for that with zero hesitation. In fact, anyone know a committee member I could bribe to make this happen?
I do think if ASU makes the cut there's a good chance we could be matched up for the "former K protege" narrative

I'm not convinced the bid stealers are actually on the 12 line. I'm also not convinced that St. Mary's was a bid stealer. I think this will be a historically inaccurate year for the bracket matrix given the NET.

An 8 seed is possible. Marquette is historically under-seeded, so take what you think is a reasonable seed (5 or 6) and drop it by a seed or two. I think Marquette is a 5 seed, so I dropped them two lines to a 7 seed.

No they aren't.
West coast against a school located near the site.
I'll admit that I wasn't thinking that they'd never put a one seed against those two teams in their back yard, but otherwise don't think it's crazy. They wouldn't be ranked as of today, so that puts them on the 7 line on that basis. RPI is 32. I already addressed NET and the eye test over recent weeks. Maybe I'm convincing myself so I'm not disappointed, but there are a lot of reasons to say six isn't the base case.
Wherever they go...unless it's Des Moines(highly unlikely)...Give me a Friday/Sunday site with a later(ish) start time. That way we have one full day or more to enjoy the tourney before worrying about MU.

It's not just the fact we are an 8.
It's us being an 8.
Des Moines being a 1 seed pod
Them putting Marquette and Minny in such a prime location relative to whoever the 1 seed is.
The combination was of all 3 things makes it basically an impossible scenario.

I don't know about generous seeds, but one thing they always seemingly have is a tough as hell draw...every year. Whether it's a bad matchup, or playing a team in their back yard...why can't MU ever be the team that gets the relatively "cake" draw to the Sweet 16??
Yes. Very little thought went into location due to beer, wine, whiskey and the pointless exercise of guessing location. You got me.

Let's see if I can get to 5...
- No way we are an 8.
- No 1-seed would play in Des Moines. Those teams will be in Columbia, Columbus, & maybe Jacksonville.
- The only 1 that might play there is a Michigan team, & it's unlikely they will match Minnesota with a second round Big 10 team.
- Both us & Minnesota would have a geographical advantage on any potential second round 1-seed in Des Moines. Not a strict guideline, but unlikely.
Doh...that's all I've got.
