So, who here on MUScoop is planning on attending the game(s) in Greenville? I'm thinking of driving down from Wash, DC if I can switch some Friday meetings around. If they play on Sunday I'll definitely make it then.
Waiting on the ticket allocation... wife dropped out and I'm not schlepping three kids to SC if I don't have tickets in hand.
Going if i get tix via MU
For those of us in SE that are considering attending, could some kind soul post details on how to secure tickets from MU?
Please feel free to PM or post to thread. I will forward info to SE alumni chapters.

Unfortunately no. With the auditors in at chick's company, it's simply not possible this year.
So we're doing the next best thing. We're headed to MKE for the Official Marquette campus game watch party. Communicated back and forth with Advancements last night about helping to host or assist in any way possible. I'll post more info as it becomes available. So if your in the area, join us.
I just received from Marquette if this helps.

This is where I am, too.
The lateness of the game creates problems for me. The whole idea of going to the game is to be with like-minded people. So if I don't have MU section tickets in hand, making that drive - and more specifically, making the very late drive back - will not worth it to me. I don't want to go there only to have to buy some nosebleed tickets on the other side of the arena at some ridiculous price.
If I can't get MU tix, I'll host some fellow Charlotte Marquetters and we'll cheer on the lads in front of my big-screen TV.
If When we win Friday, I certainly hope to go Sunday, though the rich Dookies will swoop in like sharks for tix.
Any word on a Greenville pre game reception?

Ticket pickup and reception will be announced 2-3 days prior. Consider that the ticket office is a madhouse right now... they have to work through the team's own logistics first, the ticket allocation next, Broeker needs to get fitted for a new suit, then they'll get around to the special events.
You will all get tickets, in my informed opinion.
82, you have any extra beds? #Scoopbnb?

I don't even want to drive from Greenville to Charlotte after midnight. I wouldn't wish it on others.
Seriously, if the game were in Charlotte - as it was supposed to be before our legislators mandated discrimination - I would open up the house to all. Hopefully, the ridiculous law will be repealed and I'll get the chance in the future.

UNC fans are the bigger concern for tickets on Sun. If we can get past SC, most of the arena will probably be UNC fans cheering for us against Duke.
Would love to go but getting to Greenville seems like a b!tch from Milwaukee. Not sure I'll find a friend to take a 13 hour road trip with me...

I'm in the same boat. For Chrissakes...10 pm start! Sunday could be a different story, however.
Other than the fact that it's a two-hour drive late at night, is there something else about going from G-Ville to CLT that those of not flying into GSP (i.e. driving from Charlotte) should know about?

Glow - what's the information on the official Marquette watch party? We will likely be in Milwaukee to watch Minnesota (i.e. the 5 seed in the most popular 12/5 upset pick) and I'm looking for game watching options on Friday.
Go to the hotel where the NCAA are headquartered for the POD.....
Got my 2003 final ticket there......$400 for Saturday Monday.....About half way up.....
Before the game.....There will be plenty for the first rounds......
Prices have skyrocketed in the last 15 years it appears......
When face is what they say.....
If not popular......Tickets may be going under face.....
You can always pick tickets up at the team hotel......
Look for the team that has to travel the farthest.....
Usually the most open "student" section tickets.....
I have sat with the "Southern" students back in the 90's
Yes .....We got several looks.....LOL......
Working on the details, but I look to be a go. Late start is annoying.

Agreed. There is always the chance that you'll be able to score a ticket or two from MU HQ day of game (whether extras, additional release or no-shows), especially if MU makes it to the second round and one of the popular teams lose their first (and the remaining team didn't use their full allocation) because there's only one session (one ticket gets you both games). In this case, Duke and UNC's allocations for Sunday - presuming they advance - are gone, period... bank on it. So if MU fills their allocation, any extra tix on Sunday are going to come from SHU or Arkansas... in which case, I'd feel pretty good about scoring some "Seton Hall" tickets if they beat the hogs as I'm sure SHU would be ecstatic to "reallocate" their leftovers to the MU fans who sure as hell ain't gonna be cheering for UNC. Just grab some pirate gear from someone in Pewaukee and duct tape over the P-town part.
How many MU fans do you all think will be there?

They're working on it mom. I'm told by the responsible Advancement folks within the last couple hours that plans will be finalized by the end of today. Expect a few around MKE with probably a main one on campus. I'm guessing the Annex but we'll see. I'll pass along info as soon as I have it. Be great to meet you there.

Not that I can think of. I simply don't relish the drive home starting at midnight when I'll be dog-tired. But I'll take one for the team - which has an awesome record for games I've attended the last few years - as long as I can score an MU section ticket in advance.

Same..See ya there!
Just got my ticket confirmation. Have flight and hotel all set. Don't expect to find anything really close to the venue --walking distance. Likely to be 3 miles away or more. There were a few rooms left at a place near the arena if you're happy paying $385 a night for a hotel that's probably $160 most of the time. Price line had express fare deals MKE to GSU yesterday for $160-$170 less than regular fares. Don't know if they still do. If you don't mind flying out at 5:25 a.m. like I am, its a good deal.
Tickets and flights confirmed. Only AAL flight from ORD to GSP includes a 71 minute layover in CLT so figured we're better flying into CLT and driving over.
Not sure where we're staying yet... have three reservations on the board right now so waiting to hear what the team hotel is then I'll cancel the other two.

Agreed. Ticket demand will be well off the pace from our 3 most recent appearances. Once you get out of 'reasonable' driving distance it gets tough for many.
My goodness, what a late start time. I'll likely just need to DVR the game & watch Saturday AM when I wake up.

One critical piece of advice if you do go. Don't look around a whole lot. Keep your eyes on your phone or a newspaper or your plate or anything other than the kitchen area and the people who work there. You are better off not knowing.

I grew up in the South and had never eaten at Waffle House until a couple of years ago. I was more of a Shoney's girl back in the day - even worked my way through school by waitressing there.
It's basically a southern version of George Webb. The ones right off the highway have a lower ratio of scary-looking folks.
The one and only time my wife and I went to Waffle House, I had a hankering for pancakes. I didn't see any on the menu and asked the waitress about it. "This is WAFFLE House, darlin'. We don't cook no pancakes!"
About a month later, we went to IHOP ... and I told them to take waffles off their menu!

In case it hasn't been posted elsewhere, team HQs is the Greenville Marriott. Looks like that's a distance from downtown and the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Shuttles will be provided to and from the Arena.
Here's the link from Marquette for Greenville activities starting Thursday:

FYI - As an alternative to the Marriott, there's a Hampton Inn and a HI Express both adjacent to the Marriott and a Courtyard across the street.

Same with us Goose. We used to have a place down in Tampa and we (my parents) would always drive there.
Waffle House was always one of the we would stop at on the way down there. My sister and I loved it, don't know about my parents.
As you guys all know, chick's family is from Nashville. The first Waffle House we know southbound on I-65 is on the south side of Indy. We've stopped there for breakfast at least a couple of times.
Also, a couple years ago there was a big chick family reunion in the Seaside FLA area on the emerald coast. And while I won't get into how gawd awful the traffic is in and out of there on a Saturday in the summer (literally hundreds of miles of bumper to bumper), the existence of a Waffle House at nearly every exit at least meant you could get some hot grub on the drive.

We have to wait for Wojo's guys to get here. Well it's year THREE!! Why doesn't this team have a PF who can bang and rebound? Why all the holes on the roster? He has had sufficient amount of time to put together a much better team than what we're used to watching. His teams are consistently sloppy, careless, weak/soft, etc. Not to mention that he's a terrible in-game coach. Attendance, season tix, interest among students and other fans is waning. Wojo's mojo is basically non-existent at this point. I am sure sick of him and I would imagine others are as well.
Imagine if MU could have just won some of the crucial games this season... Pitt, Seton Hall, heck Butler twice! wojo simply cannot get it done. He can't take that extra step. You beat Nova and instead of using that momentum to turn the corner as a program you follow that up with a crap game and 1 point home loss to PC then an ass whooping to St. John'.s PATHETIC

Praising Wojo for the way he is rebuilding the program just one month after calling him a clueless moron who should be fired? That's not "calling it both ways." It's being a disingenuous douchebag. One can be a critical fan without being a total hater at any sign of adversity. Every single one of us here has been frustrated at times without feeling some idiotic need to call our coach a moron or our players useless.
One who rips at any sign of trouble but praises at any sign of good is not being unique or insightful at all. It is, in his own way, being a "sheep." Any mope can follow the ups and downs of a team, hating during rough patches and flashing the No. 1 sign during the good streaks. THAT'S being a sheep.

what was said has been said. I call it BOTH ways. I get emotional and upset when we're losing, I ride the wave when we're winning. I'm very happy with the NCAA tournament bid and in all honesty I think Wojo has done a great job rebuilding the program his way.
Just win, baby!!
This is the Waffle House thread. Are you on board with hash browns or not? No waffling!!!

Perhaps in the future, you should wait until you cool off before posting.
Not terrible advice for any scooper ,actually. Crap like your quotes that JJJJ pulled is one of the reasons I don't even read Scoop for several days after a loss.

Didn't transgender folks need to pee before "discrimination" was mandated?

Praising Wojo for the way he is rebuilding the program just one month after calling him a clueless moron who should be fired? That's not "calling it both ways." It's being a disingenuous douchebag. One can be a critical fan without being a total hater at any sign of adversity. Every single one of us here has been frustrated at times without feeling some idiotic need to call our coach a moron or our players useless.

Well said, 82!

Nothing wrong with being a Nova fan. We like, respect, and even root for you guys...... until round 3. ;D
On a related note, a friend of mine, whose son is a Marquette student, just happens to be in South Carolina working on a volunteer service project. This afternoon, her car was rear-ended pretty badly this afternoon by - you guessed it - a University of South Carolina student.
Must have seen the Marquette sticker on the back window.

Getting rear-ended is a good thing for some Scoopers (ZFB).
Some years I go to games.. some years I stay away from work both days.. some years I go into the office for a bit, but leave early.
The final call this year is no office. Maybe get a little work done from the home office in the AM.
I'll be up, in every way, for the game Friday night. Pricing flights to NYC area airports.

I don't get what you're trying to say here. Send me a PM if you want to discuss it.

I forgot Seton Hall was in Greenville too. I know that they are in a different session, so will any of their fans be at our game? Or do most fans only go to the session their team is in? Be great to have some of them joining the MU faithful and Duke fans to counteract the Cocks fans.
For the folks in Greenville, have fun and bring home a winner. Nothing better than cheering your team on in the NCAA!!!
