The petty taunt and sarcasm above -- "Thanks, Bert." -- makes Marquette and all of us look silly and small.
Are we really blaming Buzz Williams for the outcome of this year's season? If yes, we really feel the need to proclaim it in such an infantile way?
Wojo is our guy and our coach. He has just finished a really tough, surprisingly difficult, unexpectedly unsuccessful first season, from which he has undoubtedly learned plenty and grown as a man and a coach.
Why this need to wallow in the memories of Buzz Williams, who is LONG GONE?
I do not know if Buzz Williams left Marquette or if he, for some reason, was told to leave Marquette. I only know that I like Wojo a lot and feel no need to care about or be reminded almost constantly of Buzz Williams' relatively short stint as head coach.
Please remove "Thanks, Bert." from atop this page.
Who else would we blame for this season? The only guy Wojo recruited to Marquette University for this past season ended up on 2nd Team All Big East even after missing 5 games. The reason we had a horrible season is because of Bert. So, thanks Bert.

Yeah, I agree. Remove it and replace with "thank you phony cowboy who pledged to be at MU as long as they would have him". Leave it up there permanently so that the Buzz slurpers, all 7 of them, have lasting memories. This obviously strikes home to their fantasies.

You thought this season was going to be successful? After losing 70% of the scoring from the season before, where we still didn't make the tournament? Were you on crack all year?
While we're at it, replace SoG Tally with ELoNT Tally.
Are we chalking up next year as a disaster too? I don't care who anybody wants to blame, to feel better. Just fix the damn thing.

The vitriol for both Tom Crean and Buzz Williams is beyond the pale. It's like some here take pleasure in bashing these guys and I just don't get it. I always look forward not back. They both have had their best success as coaches while at Marquette that should be enough for any of us to appreciate. Now it's time to move on.

Some here clearly share an adolescent need to comment constantly on Buzz Williams while blaming him for how Marquette played this year. This makes no sense to me, but whatever. ...
While I do not even understand some of the posts under this topic, it is clear that certain "regulars" at this site are weirdly focused on Buzz Williams, which is completely disrespectful of the man chosen to succeed Williams and lead Marquette basketball into the future.
Blame Buzz Williams all you want. He does not give a damn about you, your feelings or, perhaps, Marquette basketball.

FWIW, I actually appreciated Buzz's contributions to the program, and Crean's too. But I see nothing wrong with having fun with it.
Me? I personally blame Obama!
As for Wojo's "surprisingly difficult, unexpectedly unsuccessful first season" ... to you, perhaps. It's your opinion and certainly not a fact. I expected almost exactly what we got. In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised with how we stayed in almost every game against vastly superior opposition.

I couldn't care less whether Buzz Williams "gives a damn" about me, my feelings, or Marquette basketball, and I certainly don't expect him to "give a damn" (funny that you talk about adolescent needs). Good for him.
Buzz Williams's roster is the one that went 13-19 this season. Only so much a coach can do when inheriting an entire roster from a former coach. In my opinion, Wojo did a very good job of setting a standard that players need to live up to and letting those who weren't up to it leave. Once that was all sorted out, he got those who were willing to put in the work to work hard and compete every night. You're trying to argue Bert has no fault in this season. You're entitled to your opinion. My opinion that he is very, very largely to fault for this season, given that it was his players out on the basketball court, does nothing to disrespect Wojo. Nothing at all.
Listen, you can call me "f****** pathetic" (again, funny considering you are the one saying others have adolescent needs here) for "needing to blame the season on someone." You're the one who started this thread and brought up blame in the first place.
Let's relax a little here.
I'm guessing Buzz also doesn't care enough to ever look at Scoop, so I'm sure he'll never see it. Complete non issue.

The only thing I'm bitter about is the recruits he basically stole. Namely Pierce and Hill. Those guys committed to MU. Not Buzz. Thank you, knight in shining white armor, for defending the honor of the poor maiden Tom Crean. Because lord knows, no barb or insult should go uncorrected.
I was in tears of genuine horror at the recent "pictures of Tom Crean thread" that made him look like an idiot until you came in, again, on your majestic white horse and saved Tom from the savagery by posting pictures of Crean during the Final Four years. Certainly, you could not have allowed such barbaric attacks to go uncontested. What dismay would have occurred had you not saved his honor and reminded us all, again, that Tom did great things and that you worked for him personally.

No, actually I believe they cheated in each of those years, but the NCAA isn't vacating that win...sorry. Again, I'm dealing with facts. Using your logic, then every team SU played in that tournament should get another shot, including your favorite coach that gave us Wadesworld.

Nope, we lost to them to go to the FF. But hey, Crean actually got to an E8 at II, II with their forfeited win over Cuse in the S16! Congrats coach Crean!
You are the 1 who repeatedly talks about how Tourney success doesn't mean anything. Why look at 1-6 games when a season is 30 games long, right? But when it comes to defending your boyfriend it's all that matters, check out these awesome pictures of his FF! Thanks for letting me jump on your back Wade! WRONG. Come on dude, you are a smart guy, why do you misrepresent so much?
I said and have ALWAYS said that I break the seasons up in thirds. Preseason\non conference, conference, post season. I've never said the post season is not important or doesn't mean anything. NEVER. Not once. EVER. Let alone repeatedly. I've said, if you bothered to read, that it doesn't define a season for me. If a team sucks all year but gets hot for 3 days to win their conference tournament and go to the dance, did they have a successful season? No. They had a successful postseason run for a few days. Just as a team can slug it out all year long, win their conference but have an off night in the tournament final and not make it. Does that mean their season was horrible or unsuccessful? Sorry, I don't view it that way...there regular season was very good, maybe great, but their post season wasn't.
Two different things. Anything can happen in the tournament, this year's version proves out what it does each and every year. Better teams lose sometimes. I don't judge a team's entire value on what happened in one game. It's part of it, but it's not everything. I'm right there with Coach K, Coach Few, etc and have been since day one on this board.
Stop making stuff up.

You're right Chicos!
It is really annoying when long time posters come on here and say the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...
You know what Al always said: "Whether or not one loses his/her mind while reading Chicos' stuff ... it's a crapshoot!"

I have no idea what to make of this thread.
What process should I be respecting here?
I was trying to be ironic, but that might have started something else...
Like most threads on this board it starts out well, then careens through the guardrail and plummets like a flaming wreck into the gorge.
Personally, I blame Bert every time it happens.
