Another Big 3 for Aaron Harrison.......

#8 Wildcats vs #7 Huskies for it all.....

College Basketball was and Always will be a Guards Game!!!!

What a remarkable run for both teams.

Wish Buzzard woulda gave the keys to our Freshmen........

Great game...fun to watch.  Glad UK won for the rivalry, but I enjoyed watching the Badgers play against potentially 5 NBA players and take them down to the wire.

8 points (4-7), 5 rebounds, 3 fouls

Still want to tell us why he is the best center in College?

(Yes he is a REALLY GOOD player, that is not the question)

Kentucky was all over him.  He often made the smart play by passing it out.

Was a hell of a game...and a real punch in the gut for the Badgers and their fans.  I was actually pulling for them...Bo runs a great program...Cal gets all the 5-stars...and is there practically every year.  Is Cal a great coach....or just keep getting bailed out by uber talented one and ones?  I mean Harrison hitting, 3, clutch 3 point shots to keep the run alive to the Finals...

Our board would go nuts if our 4th best offensive option takes the biggest shots, EVERY game.

Deonte = Randle
JJJ= Young
Duane= Harrison
Dawson= Other Harrison

Love guys like you....at the first opportunity a guy doesn't play all world, you question his merits as a player.  Kind of like how people wanted to say Dawson wasn't ready if he got in a game and missed an early shot/committed a turnover or two/foul....yet the one game Buzz gave him 30 he played a really good game and virtually got us a win in OT.

Kaminsky is a very skilled player...he'll stick around Madison for another year...and I suspect he'll be a fringe lottery pick.  The level of improvement he showed in just 1 year was astounding.  You won't find many 7' guys with his skill set....and...Kaminsky is actually a guy who doesn't HAVE to score to make a huge difference for his team (unlike your boy Derrick), as he drew double teams all night, and that helped create the great perimeter looks.

I didn't choose Wisconsin to go this far, but the way the brackets have been getting busted,  I needed Wisconsin to win after Florida failed to get into the championship game in order for me to win my pool.

A small part of me died when I found myself wanting them to win for the sake of a wager...

They have one hell of a team though...This tournament has been bonkers.

As we would have a right to, Traevon Jackson is a pretty selfish point guard.  His numbers don't look bad, but he took half of the Badgers shots in crunch time the last couple games (last five minutes of regulation and overtime vs Arizona, and last five minutes in this game).  That is not a point guard's duty, especially when he isn't their best offensive player.

Ahh...sorry Bleu....was the first comment on Derrick I've made since the season ended...probably could have left it out though to still make the point....just because a guy has an off game (Kaminsky tonight although he drew consistent doubles and was the focal point of UK's defense)...or in the case of Dawson....an off minute or two...doesn't mean the guy isn't a good player...or in Kaminsky's case a potential lottery type talent...

Honestly, that was so far out there I think you have to let him shoot that.  If you close on him, he goes around you.  A guy making that shot from that far out, tip your hat to him.

But in that situation - up 2 with about 6 seconds to go - I think you want to make him try to go around you.  If he does and hits a 15-footer, the worst you have is overtime.  Let him hit a 3 and, well....

I think you want him to take a bad shot, or a difficult shot.  Looked to me like he took a difficult shot, had a hand in the face but the kid hit it.  You also don't want to foul a guy taking a 3 pointer, either.  A lot going on right there to think about.

If a 3-pointer is the only thing that can beat you, you have to be closer.  Look at how far apart the players' feet are.  The defender was several feet away from the shooter, and by the time the defender's hand got there, the ball was several feet in the air.  In that situation, you get in his grill and try to make him drive.

Jim Nantz called the shot before it even went in, saying "that's his spot on the floor."  He couldn't believe Gasser wasn't guarding him.  You can't let him have that look...even a deep look.  Let him drive, make the 2pts if need be, and try to win in OT.

For a little while....they are absolutely loaded for next year and something tells me they will be locking up a few more recruits as a result.

Also had a little bit of luck in this run. You're right, they're gonna be good. But that doesn't mean they are gonna be locks for another FF.

Agreed....my prediction earlier today was that they would win this game, lose in the finals and come back next year as a 1 seed but lose in an upset in the Sweet 16.  I'll stick to the latter part.

THIS!!!!

Traveon Jackson played Hero ball down the stretch and his skill set is not that of an Elite Player. He will probably never be on a NBA Team....

Just because Jim Jackson is your dad that doesnt warrant you to make some of the decisions he was making.

The Badgers had a good year but between Jackson choices and Kaminsky not putting up those numbers. They lost.

Disagree with the Jackson hate, and I've seen a lot of it from Badger fans as well. I think Jackson's late game monopoly is more a product of the fact that he's one of the only Wisco players that could create his own shot - not some sort of selfish tic.  Kaminsky or Brust would probably be better candidates to shoot with the game on the line, but with 6 seconds left, are you going to give either of them the ball in the backcourt? Are you going to try to draw up an off-ball screen and hope that everything comes together? No, you're probably going to give the ball to your most able 1 v 1 player and hope for the best. Kaminsky and Brust are great in the offense, but neither is going to get half the look Jackson got against a defender the size of what UK had on the court.

His Skill set doesn't call for him to take hero shots...
Just because hes the point guard doesnt make it the best shot to take.
If Derrick came down and jacked up a Game winner in a Final 4 game.
That would be the end of all humanity as we see it.
Not to mention Kaminsky was "Wide Open" under the basket and
Dekker is perfectly capable of putting up a quality shot in my opinion.
I knew it was over on the inbound to him. I looked on Bucky Scout forums and they are livid.

There is a 107 comment thread called "Horrible Last Shot" I promise I couldnt make this up. Ha ha

Yep.  And THIS is one of the biggest reasons why I am so happy Becky lost.  Their fans are insufferable.

When MU lost in 2003, the last thing on my mind was looking for Becky fans to rip about their loss in the 2000 Final Four.  Then Becky loses last night, and Butch's first instinct is to come here and troll.

Bo had them playing their best at the right time.  So many options make them dangerous. Hard to believe they could have won a championship during a year they lost to NW at home, a bad Indiana and Nebraska.  This is why the tourney is so great.  One bad game and your season is over.  One great run and you're playing for it all.

Next year they could just as easily be the heavy favorite that has a bad shooting night and loses in the second round.  Might as well picture that all summer rather than the opposite.

It all depends on the matchups next year, in the tourney.  This year, they had a very favorable path to the final four while #1 seed Wichita St. had a very difficult path.  If Wichita St. had to face, American, Oregon, and Baylor, they would have made it to the Elite 8.

UCONN, has been playing lights out, but they did have to face an Iowa St. team that was missing a key starter.  That helped their chances of moving on, plus the home crowd they had when they played Michigan St.  Mich St. is still asking themselves why they lost that game.  UCONN should have been beaten that game.

Kentucky wouldn't be as far without Harrison's 3 consecutive game winning shots.

Wisconsin needs to recruit someone who can create their own shot.  That's really, the only missing piece to their puzzle.  Then again, Live by Bo's system, die by Bo's system.

You're missing the point. I don't think anyone questions giving him the ball at the end, but he doesn't have to shoot EVERY time. He is the best option to create and draw the defense, but not the best option to take the last shot, unless he gets to the rim.

If I'm Wisconsin, I dare Harrison to take that shot in that situation every time. You don't jack up a long contested three when you are down by two. Not when you have more time on the clock. Harrison is lucky it went in or Calipari would be having him do wind sprints until he puked

If I was Bo,  I would have had a defender in Harrison's pocket.  There was at least 3 -4 feet between the defender and Harrison.  There was no way he would have beat me after he won the last 2 games with the same shot.  I would have stressed to the team that someone else would have to beat us.

I liked the shot. It was definitely long, but it wasn't really contested. I'm not sure they would have gotten a better shot if they tried to drive, which was his only real option given the set they were in and the time left. How often do we see isolation and an off balance shot to end the game in college now? At least he had a good look.

I think Gasser could have played him a little closer given Harrison's recent history, but I wouldn't go as far to call it bad defense.

Side note, I think it's possible that UW could be better off with Koenig and Jackson on the court together more often next year. I know Bo will start Gasser and probably give him big minutes, but Koenig and Jackson are more talented.

The last shot was fine. It was the best Bucky was going to get.

The undefended Harrison three, however, is inexcusable in that situation given what Harrison had done the prior 2 games.
