We will soon find out:
Satchel Pierce @satch1032 25m Fridays going to be a big day here at kiski, got our 1st game and like my dude @major25canady I'll be announcing where I'm going to school!
Would he commit to Marquette without visiting?, he's not coming to the Ohio St game. UGH!
Could be a huge day for the Big East. If Peirce commits to MU and Cliff Alexander goes to Depaul.

Not sure it means anything but who knows.
FWIW, 247 crystal ball now has 11 of 11 people with Pierce going to MU, including two that made their predictions yesterday evening. I wonder if they heard something more definitive.
Corey Albertson @Corey_Rivals513 1m
Pierce will reschedule his visit to Marquette for sometime in the next month.

7'0 center Satchel Pierce will not be able to make his Marquette visit this weekend due to a team scrimmage, per his father.

247's predictions do need to be taken with a grain of salt. Both of Creighton's guys so far were unanimously picked to go elsewhere when they committed here.
I enjoyed the title of this thread, probably more than I should have.
If he is rescheduling his visit to Marquette, and announcing Friday, that would seem to indicate that he has decided to come here. Who would visit a school after already committing? Why not just cancel in that case?

I would guess that he made up his mind to come here based on his relationship with Buzz, but wants to get the full treatment of the place with his parents at a time that better fits his schedule.
My gut is he's not coming.

When Mark Miller predicts someone is coming to MU, that gets me feeling about 99% certain it's a lock.
Just playing devil's advocate here but he could be pushing it back the date so Buzz won't be expecting him this weekend and he doesn't have to cancel now and let the cat out of the bag that MU isn't his choice and just cancel later. I'd love to see the kid come to MU though, another nice addition for the Big East.
And that was quite the run-on sentence.

I know what you are saying. And a guy just switched his pick to Miami on 247.
So maybe I'll just wait til Friday and stop trying to read the tea leaves. ;)
Fingers are crossed!
SIAP but this Rivals article would make it seem like he is going to Miami:
Saltsburg (PA) Kiski School center/power forward Satchel Pierce took an official visit to Miami this past weekend.
Now the question is whether it will be enough to turn him into a Hurricane.
Pierce says his plan is to announce a decision this week.
"The visit went great," Pierce said. "I liked just being able to meet coach L (Jim Larranaga) and his whole staff in person. And I liked the team. We just hung out with the team. I sat down and talked with them about how they play and how the coaches coach and all that good stuff."
He previously took one other visit, to Pittsburgh, and he isn't ruling out visiting Marquette either ... if he decides to put off announcing a decision.
Asked what kind of shape UM is in to land his commitment, Pierce says "in real good shape."
Why is that?
"I like the way they develop their players," Pierce said. "When I went down there I went in the weight room and I liked how they do individual workouts with the players. And I loved the campus."
He also attended the football game against Wake Forest.
"That was a real good game," he said. "It was excitating, a lot better than other games I'd been to."
Last season Pierce averaged 13 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks per game.
"I copy my game after Tim Duncan," he says.
He landed over 20 offers during the recruiting process, including Kansas State, Texas Tech and James Madison.
"He's got great hands, great size," Kiski School coach Darren Freedman said. "He's really good shot blocker, rebounds well. One of his best assets is he really has a great feel for scoring in the post. He's very skilled for a big. He's come a long way and is just getting better. He hasn't even got close to his ceiling and he's one of the nation's top big men."

MUscoop? That's hard to say.
Marquette? No, he was supposed to visit this weekend, but has to re-schedule due to a team scrimmage. Buzz has had multiple visits to see him.
Don't like the sounds of where this is going....good to be a team player and be there for a scrimmage....but think most teammates and coaches would understand you taking an official visit to a school of interest for an MU vs Ohio State game...
Only faith I have is that Mark Miller predicted him to MU a week or two back...but...17 year old kids can be very fickle.
Hard to imagine Miami's early season struggles thus far could influence him positively...and Jim Larranaga? Good guy and coach, but Buzz to me has a lot more to offer...including how he and the squad just pummeled the favored Hurricanes in the Sweet 16.
Come on Satchel...we need you!

Regardless of the date, I don't see any of those quotes as gushing his love for Miami--if anything they seem more guarded to me. Like, giving a good report to keep his options open while not committing him to anything. The recruit version of coachspeak.
As for putting off his visit to MU this weekend--I think either interpretation could be valid. Could be set on MU already, so the visit is more about enjoying the trip at the right time. Or, could be his way of kicking the MU can down the road until after he's committed without totally tipping his hand.
Just have to wait and see on Friday...

I'm not really feeling that good about this now. You would think he wouldn't put off the visit a second time, especially a weekend where we play #10 Ohio St. at home. Wouldn't a kid who commits on a Friday be excited to go to his future school and watch them play in a big game & cheer them on the day after? My gut now says he is committing to Miami or Pitt and the scheduled visit to MU is just false hope. We're all probably reading into this too much but I'm less optimistic now than I was earlier.

I sure hope Satchel appreciates all of the pessimism here... after all, he wants his moment - which he should get - and it wouldn't be as cool if a school's fans already had a consensus on him attending their school before he even made his decision.
That said, I think he's going to shock the world... it won't be UCLA, but it will surprise many.

There's a lot of pressure on him from multiple fan bases. Lets hope Marquette fans show the most class and respect for him and his family. BTW, I like that first name. He comes from a family with a sense of history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satchel_Paige

Not to nitpick, but cancelled his visit because he has a scrimmage on Sat.... Which probably wasn't on the schedule when he rescheduled.
But don't let facts and details get in the way.
From Rivals Signing Day writeup, don't know if posted here yet:
Pierce will decide Friday
He isn't quite a Rivals150 prospect, but three-star center Satchel Pierce has become a commodity that high major coaches are seeking to land. The Akron (Ohio) native is originally a class of 2013 prospect that reclassified and has spent the last two years at the Saltsburg (Pen.) Kiski School.
Pierce has confirmed to Rivals.com that he will make his college decision on Friday evening, when he will choose between Marquette, Miami and Pittsburgh.
Pierce has officially visited both Miami and Pittsburgh, but has not made an official trip to Marquette. The center was scheduled to go to Milwaukee this weekend, and then make a decision by the end of the fall signing period, but had to cancel that visit due to a team scrimmage.
Now that he has canceled that visit, Pierce has announced that he is ready to make a decision. The Golden Eagles are not out of the running, and neither is Miami, but Pittsburgh is probably at least a slight favorite headed into Friday.
With his height and wide body, look for Pierce to be a contributing big man and role player who can really take up space in the middle defensively. If Pierce can continue to hone his conditioning, he could one day be a force on the glass on either end. -- Albertson

I will definitely go with Evans saying Pitt is out of it over Albertson calling them a slight favorite. Piitt reportedly has moved on to a foreign player and Pierce has little chance to start at Pitt before his junior year which he doesn't like.

Wake Forest thought they had a big 'in the bag'
QuoteIsaac Haas did not sign his national letter of intent to play basketball for Wake Forest on Wednesday. The entire scenario feels like a Dan Brown novel
On November 12th, the day before national signing day, the mother of Isaac Haas, who is/was our 7' 2" 4-star commit for the class of 2014, announced on her Facebook page that Isaac would be signing his letter of intent at 2 pm (central time) in his high school's gymnasium. She welcomed all family and friends to the event and asked people to support her son. Even around noon yesterday a friend asked her where her son was going and she replied, "He is going to Wake Forest!" 12 hours later, after a lot of 'likes' and comments from friends and family members, Mrs. Haas commented that the signing had been postponed and that more information would follow.
Nick Johnston @GT_NickJohnston
Just spoke w/ Hokes Bluff coach Watkins. Said everything w/ 4-star Isaac Haas is "on hold." Didn't sign w/ Wake. Should decide next week.
At 6:30 AL.com confirmed Johnston's report in this article. The article focuses a lot on the interest Haas had in UAB over the summer.
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/11/uab_7-foot-2_target_isaac_haas.html
At 7:30 Jerry Meyer, director of basketball scouting for 247 sports tweeted the following:
#Crystalball for Isaac Haas is now 100% UAB. http://bit.ly/1ibc2j5
Meyer also notes that two of Haas' AAU teammates are committed ot UAB.
That's kind of sad that an ACC school loses out to a CUSA school like that. I am cautiously optimistic about Pierce, but if he chooses to go elsewhere, good luck to him.

What's with the "

Yeah, so Mbakwe actually suited up and played for Marquette in '07-'08. He only played 11 games though, due to a knee injury.

Zagoria is strongly calling Pierce to MU. Earlier this week, the question of him moving up his recruitment was answered with a one word "relax" response. I'm feeling good about the next 20 minutes. Hope it's not a false sense of security, but this has a Marquette feel all over it.
In Chicago, the dislike of fan base is in the following order, and it ain"t close between 1 and 2 or between 2 and 3:
1. ND
2. Michigan
3. Everybody else
Also, just heard from a reliable source that Buzz's final talk with Pierce was solid:
Satchel: You're not really called that are you?
Buzz: Called what?
Satchel: The Golden Eagles. You actually called that or are you guys just f%@'n with me?
Buzz: It's what we call ourselves. Get a lot of compliments on it. Plus we're not really Golden Eagles, we're Warriors. Maurice Lucas was one.
Satchel: So was Lloyd Moore. And he was from Pittsburgh too. Hmmm....Warriors...

I assume you weren't around on the other message boards back in 2003 when we were barraged by Illini fans saying they were going to hire Crean from us because they are such a vastly superior program. Then the "did they offer", "did he turn them down" debate that followed. We had a mini replay last year when they thought they could waltz in and take Buzz if they felt like it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as 2003.
Then there's obviously a large percentage of MU fans that are from WI and cheer against any team in Illinois. But in an attempt to build some consensus with Illini fans, I hope we both beat the Buckeyes today.

What surprised me with some of the commentary here is that this has happened a number of times in football and basketball recruiting in the last few years, yet some seemed surprised by it.
