Any word yet on Satchel?  247 now has 13 experts for MU, with Slater (Duke) switching to MU.  The last three coming in around 2 pm.  Maybe I missed the announcement.
I see he tweeted he's announcing at 7 tonight.  So I think that means 6 pm CST.

I would be pretty happy if Marquette got a tall guy. I have noticed that a lot of the good teams have tall guys on them.

Whoa... I've never really made that correlation. Think it's because they're closer to God?

Typical Jayhawk

Typical FIB

He's not a Jayhawk yet, he is a FIB now.  Who knows, maybe his application doesn't get sent in, I hear that sometimes happens.

Watch the video here of the Illinois fans watching the pick:

That is brutal. Reading this thread, I actually was feeling a little sorry for the Illiniweks, but that video ... wow ... I think the only thing more pathetic than Alexander's fake-out was the whiny pleading by a couple of those Illiniweks, "Oh, please pick us, please, please." And then, after Alexander changed hats to Kansas, I swear a couple of Illiniweks were crying. Grow the eff up.

just looked at 247 as well...i'm optimistic at this point.  just another friday night dinner plan that's going to be interrupted by sports.  how did we ever survive without smartphones???

It was a dick move, but a dick move toward Illini fans, so I'm OK with that.

Wow, I just watched the ESPN special with Alexander committing. What a brutal day for Illinois basketball. Top 40 recruit changes his mind again and goes back to his former committed school, then Alexander pulls that move.  :o Wow. However, Illini fans get on my nerves, so I can't say I'm upset.

TallTitan34

Illinois fans here at work are very upset.  Which is why I am very happy he did it!

Hate Illinois. Before the Harbaugh clan relocated to Klan territory in southern Indiana the Illini were my least favorite Big 10 team (even ahead of Wisconsin). That said, tremendously dick move by Alexander.

ChitownSpaceForRent

I dont get how Marquette fans have such distain for Illinois. MU hasnt played the, in god knows how long, its not an instate rival and its not Ntore Dame. I just dont get how everybody has such a big problem with the Illini. I personally love them.

FWIW, there are some who think he just grabbed the wrong hat by mistake then corrected his error.
But we ought to tear the kid a new one just in case.

I grew up in the city of Chicago and for me it is my high school classmates who ended up going to school there.  Biggest a'holes ever (besides ND).  Makes it very easy to hate them.

I have several friends and even more co-workers from U of I. Pretty much all good people and mild mannered about their sports (unlike the jagholes from ND and UW).
You know who's becoming unbearable these days? NIU people.  A couple of good seasons doesn't make you Alabama, people.

Thats why I dont get it cause I grew up/live in chicago too and half of my high school went to Illinois and theyre all good people. The pricks from my school went to Michigan.

Zagoria is strongly calling Pierce to MU. Earlier this week, the question of him moving up his recruitment was answered with a one word "relax" response. I'm feeling good about the next 20 minutes. Hope it's not a false sense of security, but this has a Marquette feel all over it.

LloydMooresLegs

In Chicago, the dislike of fan base is in the following order, and it ain"t close between 1 and 2 or between 2 and 3:

1.  ND
2.  Michigan
3.  Everybody else

LloydMooresLegs

Also, just heard from a reliable source that Buzz's final talk with Pierce was solid:

Satchel: You're not really called that are you?
Buzz: Called what?
Satchel: The Golden Eagles. You actually called that or are you guys just f%@'n with me?
Buzz: It's what we call ourselves. Get a lot of compliments on it.  Plus we're not really Golden Eagles, we're Warriors.  Maurice Lucas was one.
Satchel: So was Lloyd Moore.  And he was from Pittsburgh too.  Hmmm....Warriors...

Got a good feeling about this.

SaintPaulWarrior

Please don't take this the wrong way but I am talking about the city not the suburbs.  My high school in the city the jag's all went to Illinois.

Lloyd Moore, Vic Lazeretti, Paul Newman and Kerry Trotter.  What a class.

One failure, two never were's, and one very nice player.
