Thaks for posting, Doc. The mere fact that he's taking questions seems at least mildly positive to me.
Dear Larry,
What's the proper tightness at which one should wear his tie, and how's construction of the Rev. Scott Pilarz, S.J., Fallout Shelter coming along?

Funny post. Given LW's expertise on all things concerning the necktie, I'm anticipating TC reaching out for help on proper length and tying technique (God knows he needs it). While he's at it, maybe Larry can dole out some advice on how to be a better coach - he's already done wonders with Buzz.
has anyone asked the question?
I didn't ask THE question, but I did ask him to characterize his relationship with Buzz. I also asked if Buzz was on board with our new eligibility requirements and moving freshmen and sophmores back to the regular dorms. Finally I asked his opinion on how long Buzz will be here.
I think we can all predict his answers: 1.Excellent, better the better we know each other. 2.Totally, he had important input in the decisions 3. I hope (and anticipate) a long, long time.
Hope those are the answers. Hope even more that they're true.
Exactly...what do people expect him to say?

Hello MU fan,
Thank you for your loyal support of Marquette athletics. I plan to run off Coach, oh, what's his name? The bald guy who danced at West Virginia. Whatever, you know who I'm talking about. Anyway, he's as good as gone and we plan to hire Charlie Spoonhour as head coach with Jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy as his top assistants in hopes of becoming SLU. Hope that answers your question.

Outstanding.
Seriously, if he'd just come out and let us know if it is safe to attend games this year, I'd be satisfied. All this Hiroshima and Nagasaki talk has me scared to attend a game with my kids. I don't want them to experience the horror or even residual effects of such devastation and radiation. Plus, it will effect the program for generations and generations. Do people even live in these cities now, are they safe? A google question for me, I guess.
So, I'll ask it straight away: Larry, what is the likelihood of Hiroshima/Nagasaki or even a Iwo Jima type situation playing out in the near future... And what are you doing to prevent it and to keep Buzz around for the next 10 years?
In all seriousness, the fact that all players appear to be coming back with a question mark on Mayo (apparently), and the hiring of a top flight assistant, tells me that Hiroshima is not happening. But, just in case, I should ask the question to keep my kids safe, I suppose. If Mayo is given every opportunity to come back, and isn't engaged in doing so, I won't blame Larry (and I don't really know what is up with Mayo, except what is on this board).
Larry,

The truth is ND's academic stringency for football players at least is a myth.
Many exceptions being made on the recruiting trail (Aaron Lynch, Tee Shephard, etc.)
They let in some real bozo's and not one football player that I know of has been academically ineligible in ~10 years.

There is no way they could cheat with THEIR football players. They are playing for God's team.

I have learned about the legacy and many traditions of Marquette and have the utmost respect for not just the athletic program, but the entire institution. One of my sons even attends graduate school here. So there should be no doubt about my commitment and loyalty to Marquette. Have their been discussions about a basketball-only split off from the BE and under what conditions will that occur? If their have been discussions, who is leading the conversations? Us? Gtown?

The question now becomes, who did the ball washing?
I think on one of the Buzz Williams shows Buzz said he doesn't really care for golf. That doesn't mean he doesn't play occasionally, I think he just said something about how it doesn't suit him.
Given what we know about Buzz's personality, I can't imagine him going out for 4+ hours and having the patience for golf. Especially because it takes a decent amount of practice to just to learn to play the game and enjoy it.
So, if I'm to interpret this correctly, Larry forced Buzz to play golf, furthering the schism.
Crean sure as hell was a non-golfer. Didn't stop him from posing for the cameras or clapping like a nomad.
Larry: Buzz, let's go make amends over a nice and friendly round of golf. I've got my ND golf bag and my ND tie, ND socks and ND golf balls.
Buzz: I don't play golf, it's way too slow of a game. I have no patience for slow. Why don't you just let me build the team I want and give me all the resources to do that? I really think this University is on the brink of another national champion.
Larry: I think I know what it takes to play like a champion in today's sport world, Buzz. We're not there yet, and until we are, we're not going to invest anymore in your basketball team. Now let's go shoot a round, unless you've got some dance lessons to go to.
Buzz: Screw you, Larry.
Larry: Go polish your Sweet Sixteen Ring.
::Larry sits down for his interview. Upon being asked about his relationship with Buzz Williams, he responds: "I love Buzz, he's a great guy and a hardworker. We actually just played a round of golf together. Such great memories."
I actually saw Larry Williams and his family (wife and 2 sons) in church (4:30 Saturday mass) 2 weeks ago. They had clearly just come off of the golf course, as they were all wearing khaki shorts and golf shoes. While he may have a ND golf bag, they were all 4 wearing MU golf shirts.
The MU athletic department has a membership agreement with Mequon country club. I hear Buzz has a membership but plays only 1-2 x a year and spends most of the time on his cell phone. I'm sure he and Larry played there.
